albertson is nice (i grew up right around there.) There's a good mix of people there and some people go to herricks schools and some mineola. taxes are on the high side, though I think.

Hollie, I live in East Meadow particularly in the Clearmeadow Estates (very small private area) which IMO is nicer than Barnum Woods, which is considered the nicer part of East Meadow ...let me know what you need to know!!
East Meadow school district is great (one of the best in Nassau) but teachers here are having a lot of problems (they are underpaid-fighting for contracts) and I know there may be changes if they do not resolve the issues...
I love my area!! It is quite and very very nice..the houses here are big (all split levels) and all are taken care of!!!!
I live in Clearmeadow too! I love it there.

I am in East Meadow school district but my post office is Westbury - area is called Salisbury. I really like it.

Hollie...DH and I are looking in the same areas! I student taught in an elementary school in Mineola and seriously the school was excellent...wonderful teachers and a great environment.

I grew up very close to the Albertson area. I heard Mineola SD has gone a little down hill the past few years. I do not think it's a "bad" school, I have just heard of alot of people sending their kids to private school rather than public. As for Herricks...the taxes are going to be alot higher because the SD is alot better, but if you could find one in that SD you are def. better off. Either way they are both great schools and the location is excellent esp. if you work in the city
