Alex has a pottytraining issue at school
And I don't know what to do about it.
She literally has NO accidents anymore at home. Nor does she have ANY accidents in early care, or during the regular school day with her regular teacher.
However, everyday for the last week she has had an accident at late care. And it has only been happening since camp began and they changed late care teachers.
I adored the former late care teachers. The summer late care teachers are "eh", and ironically enough, the main teacher just happens to be my neighbor's ex MIL (if anyone remembers this story, we helped my neighbor divorce her no good cocaine addict husband, so yes, this means, cocaine addict's mother is Alex's late care teacher).
I don't particularly like these teachers - they aren't nearly as attentive, warm or fuzzy as any of the other teachers. They just kind of sit there while the kids play.
Add on top of that, Alex's regular school teacher confided in me that ever since camp began Alex cries everytime they bring her to late care
So, I'm thinking it's no coincidence that she's now having accidents only during late care. I don't know if it's because Alex is unhappy, or uncomfortable asking to go to the potty, or if it's the teachers and their lack of attention, or that they just aren't bringing her to the potty often enough.
What REALLY irritates me is the main teacher makes such a big deal out of it when I come to pick up Alex, and makes a point to tell me she asked Alex to go to the potty, Alex refused and then went in her pants. Thing is, that's SO NOT Alex - I don't buy it.
So what do I do? Do I talk to the Director? How can I make Alex feel better about this situation?

It could quite possibly be that the teacher is asking her to go to the potty and Alex is refusing... refusing out of rebellion toward the teacher....It is apparent that she does not like the "late care teachers" and maybe this is her way of dealing with it.... She could be doing this on purpose....
Have you tried talking to Alex to see what it is she doesn't like about the Late care teachers?
I would definitely talk to the Director....maybe talk to some of the other parents and see if their children like these teachers...if enough parents complain you have more ammunition KWIM?

I didn't think about it that way, and you're right, that's certainly a possibility. I ask Alex why she won't go potty with Susan, the late care teacher, and she always says "because I don't want to" - there's only so much more probing I can do with a 3 year old.
I will ask some of the other parents though - that is a good idea!

Re: Alex has a pottytraining issue at school
Maybe you can ask Alex specific questions about what she does in the afternoon with Susan...what games does she play with her (or activities)...do you like doing them with her...maybe you can get a sense of what is going on...you know the dynamic of how they interact...without coming out and asking her if she likes the teacher....
I think from reading many of your many "Alex" posts...she is a verbal child and outspoken right? (sounds like my DD)
Sometimes you just need ask the right questions without asking the obvious.
It could be that Alex and the teacher just don't get along personality wise or it could be that this teacher just isn't as attentive or caring or what ever...
Hope this helps! And GL
