All day visits from people?

How do you feel about this?

I have visitors from different relatives every week on average 2-3 days a week. I am unemployed so I am guessing they think I "need" company. To be honest I do not. I am happy most days just being with the baby. We have a nice groove and I am very content.

The thing about these visits are that they are practically all day. As much as I love these people, 3 MAYBE 4 hours is sufficient. I mean I want to straighten up, relax, do things, that you may not want to do with other people there because you feel like you have to entertain. Also since they are there for such long periods of time, you have to make sure there is food and drink available.

It becomes too much sometimes.

Are you ok with long visits ?

ITA with you. All day visits for 2-3 times a week is WAYYY too much.

I would also want some time to myself. You don't want to have to take care of an infant and deal with being a host as well.

I agree too...

To be honest, I am sick and tired of visitors. I feel like I am constantly cleaning up to make sure the house is presentable. Maybe, I just want to stay in my pajamas all day!

All day is way too much...don't offer them any food...maybe they'll get hungry and leave!!Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

I can totally understand. What if you try to telll them that you have somewhere to go at x time so they will leave.

I would never be ok with that. No way. I would stop allowing that, say I will be out, etc.

Re: All day visits from people?

Last weekend my MIL stayed for 3 nights and it was WAY too much. Instead of helping me, I felt it stressed me out more. DS and I have a nice groove and she was disrupting it.

as long as it's not from my MIL. She went from seeing the baby FIVE TIMES in the 12 weeks she's been on the earth to now wanting to come over every day. Seriously. Get real.

I can handle long visits from my mom, brother, aunt and cousin... anyone else (not including friends - my friends work a lot and haven't really been over to see the baby) it turns into a huge production and they don't get the hint.
