Re: allergy meds

I take Singulair which is also used to treat asthma. It is the only thing that works. Singulair is a leukotriene blocker and not an anti-histamine. Anti-histamines are useless to me. Even the non-drowsy formulas make me drowsy ad Zyrtec dopes me up so much I cant function - even if I take it at night. Singulair was the only thing that worked - even moreso than allergy shots.

An aside: I am currently dealing with an insurance issue. Singulair is not formulary on my new plan that my employer has for us. My old plan covered it with no problem. After many years of successful treatment with Singulair, I now have to fight with the help of my doctor to get this medicine covered. If not, I will have to pay out of my pocket at $115/month.

Re: allergy meds

lately just Alavert - Claritin is like taking M&Ms at this point - I think I'm immune!

Allegra didn't do anything, Zyrtec makes me sleep.

Alavert isn't strong enough either. Chat Icon I'm having a VERY BAD SEASON!!!

Re: allergy meds

I'm having such a bad allergy season and I don't know what to take. I started taking Zyrtec but that didn't help much. Now my doctor told me to take Singular and it helps a little but not much. I had a bad infection (I don't know if it was a sinus or upper respiratory infection). I had so much coughing and pain in my throat and mucus. It still hasn't gone away. Its the worst allergy season for me. I'm at my wits end. Chat Icon Chat Icon

Allegra D 2x a day
Flonase 2x a day

Allegra D, also a nasal sparay, I think Nasonex? I dont like sprays so I dont use it, They alllegra is great. Im allergic acetaminophen(tylenol) so OTC meds are not so good for me.
