Almost halfway through the cabbage soup diet
I decided to do the CSD to drop some extra weight I had put on towards the end of the summer. We took a couple of trips and were eating out a lot. I left for Florida about 4 lbs over my normal weight and came back another 3-4lbs heavier. My SIL wedding is next week, so I figured I would try it. I weighed myself on Tuesday and was 137.6lbs, my normal weight is 130. I made my big pot of soup and started the next day. DAY 1- soup and all the fruit (no bananas) you want. I did really well the first day, because I love fruit. I had fruit throughout the day and soup for lunch and dinner. DAY 2- soup and all the veggies you want This was tougher for me. I like veggies, but it was tough to eat veggies for breakfast and snacks and have veggie soup for lunch and dinner. I felt a little sluggish. The treat of the day was I got to have a baked potato with a little bit of butter for dinner. Yummy! I have never enjoyed a microwaved baked potato more in my life! DAY3- fruits, veggies and soup- no potato I weighed myself this morning and am down to 132.6 Today has been a breeze. I had a yummy fruit salad for breakfast, which even gave me enough energy to go to Zumba. Came home and had more fruit salad, which filled me up. I'm presently working on my first bowl of soup for the day.

Does your stomach hurt from all the cabbage? I'd be in a lot of pain if I had that much...

Re: Almost halfway through the cabbage soup diet
Surprisingly no. I haven't been nearly as gassy as I expected to be. I've had gas pains here and there, but nothing bad and nothing that lasts. The most annoying part is having to pee all the time. Between the soup, upping my water intake, and eating nothing but fruits and veggies has me in the bathroom a lot.

Re: Almost halfway through the cabbage soup diet
DAY 4- up to 8 bananas, as much skim milk and soup as you want In the morning I weighed 130.8 Yesterday sucked! I like bananas and milk, but I was craving real food. It didn't help that my kids ate chicken dinosaurs and Mac n cheese. It was torturous to watch everyone eat real food while I ate bananas and soup. It was the first day I genuinely felt hungry.
DAY 5- beef and tomatoes, unlimited soup, 6-8 glasses of water I'm actually up to 131.6lbs today. Probably because the bananas binded me and I haven't gone to the bathroom in 2 days. I had a tomato for breakfast. I just sliced it up and tossed it with a teeny bit of olive oil, salt and pepper. Not exactly a typical breakfast, but it was tasty. I had a grilled big burger for lunch and dinner. I put some worcestire sauce and pepper on the meat and made sure to get a nice char on the outside. I had both meals with tomato salad (made the same as breakfast). I had a bowlof soup as a mid afternoon snack. I was never hungry all day and I made sure to drink tons of water. It was a pretty easy day.

Re: Almost halfway through the cabbage soup diet
DAY6- up to 3 steaks, veggies, at least one bowl of soup. Weighed in this morning at 129.2, I was pretty psyched! So I went and tried on my dress for the wedding, that was slightly snug the last time I tried it. Well, it was too big! Under any other circumstances I would have been thrilled, but my dress is strapless and it was sliding down. So I decided to stay on the diet, but not as strictly as I had been, because I don't think I can afford to lose much more and still fit into my dress. Today I had fresh green beans for breakfast and then snacked on them mid-morning. I had a play date planned for DS so I knew things would go off base a bit. We were ordering lunch from a pizzeria and I ordered a salad (ate it without dressing) and an escarole and bean soup (it wasn't my cabage soup, but it had the same principles). I also cheated a bit and had some of the kids penne a la vodka. I couldn't help myself. And it was so yummy! I stuck to the plan for dinner and had a steak salad with a little fat free dressing.

Re: Almost halfway through the cabbage soup diet
This post makes me want to do it again :). I think it's one of the healthier "crash diets" and have had good results before.
Go you!

Almost halfway through the cabbage soup diet
Is there a specific plan you are following? How do you know what to eat each day? I'm going on vacation in a month and would like to lose 6-7 ibs. I may just want to kick it into high gear the week before if I don't lose what I want.
Any info would be appreciated. Thanks.

The soup is low calorie and high fiber. that and all the liquid really cleans you out if you get my drift. I was going CONSTANTLY, especially toward the last few days. I lost 10 lbs in a week. and I wasn't overweight when I did the diet either. So think the weight is mostly water and back up lol.
I would say that it's a quick fix for an event OR a good jump start to a more permanent weight loss solution but from my personal experience, the weight comes back soon after you eat normally. I think you do lose like 2 lbs of real weight though, just from consuming less calories throughout that week.

Re: Almost halfway through the cabbage soup diet
DAY7- brown rice and veggies, at least 1 bowl of soup I weighed 130.4 this morning Again today I decided to follow the diet closely, but not to a tee. I had half an apple for breakfast because I wanted to go to the gym and needed some sugar to get me going. I had brown rice with black beans (that I made myself). Mid-afternoon I had a delicious bowl of vegetable soup, I kid you not! I put some bown rice and sirachi sauce in and it was yummy. For dinner I made grilled shrimp, brown rice and salad. And I had one tablespoon of fat free coffee frozen yogurt.
All in all, I would definitely do it again for a quick fix. I think if I stayed strictly on it for 7 days I would have lost the full 10lbs, if not more. I know frequent bathroom trips are supposed to accompany this diet, but I didn't find that at all. In fact, I bet I may continue to lose weight if I could actually go to the bathroom. I am going to update this post in a week or so to let everyone know if the weight has come back on.

Re: Almost halfway through the cabbage soup diet
I'm on day 2. I have my SIL's wedding the 13th and my big self doesn't fit in the dress. It is a size too small.
I did really well day 1. I had no cravings at all. Today I had a cucumber salad for breakfast and will have my soup for lunch and dinner. I'm not a huge veggie fan unless it is covered in butter or dressing so I will stick with red pepper strips until later. I am really looking forward to that potato.
I find the soup pretty good. I haven't been in the bathroom a lot or gassy at all. I am actually hoping it does a little bit of colon cleaning for me. TMI, I know.
I was down a pound after the first day. HA...if only it was 20.
