Alternatives to Y cut nipples for cereal in bottle?
We started on rice cereal in his bottle today using a Y cut nipple. He is sucking the bottle down VERY fast and is then looking for more... Could we use a higher level nipple (3 or 4) instead of the Y cut to slow him down a little? Or is the Y cut the only one it goes through easily? TIA!

I just cut a small slit in the top of the regular bottles with a knife.

Not sure what kind of bottles you use but we had a similar problem- the slits that I cut in the Level 1 nipples were too big or not big enough and were too frustrating to deal with. When I cut them too big DD would suck the formula down within a few minutes! Thanks to KristinasMama who suggested them, we use Born Free bottles and bought their variable nipples. They are great b/c depending on how you hold the bottle, will determie how fast the flow is! There are markings on the nipple [1 drop=slow, 2 drops=faster, 3 drops=fastest. Basically, it combines Levels 1, 2 and 3 in one nipple! Reilly drinks faster than before but doesn't down the bottle within a few minutes now!! HTH!

We have Dr. Browns... I think we may try using a level 3 or 4... as long as he is not struggling to get it out I think it might help...
