Am I crazy to base TTC on a weight loss goal?
Luca is 7 months and we want to have dc2 close in age. I gained 35lbs during pregnancy, lost 25 of it within the first month, and then gained another 12 or so back- so I am still carrying around 20+ more lbs than before I got pregnant.
I am overweight to begin with...
We want to start TTC in the next few months but I will not allow it until I am at LEAST 25lbs down so that I will effectively be starting off like I did before (which is still a $ucky weight but realistically it will take forever for me to get down to where I would *like* to be, kwim?).
Do you guys think that's crazy? Has anyone else ever set a weight goal before TTC?

i'm not overweight, but i still wish i was 20 pounds less than i was when i got PG. nonetheless, at almost 20 weeks, i haven't gained any weight this PG--i actually am still down -10! baby is perfectly healthy and the doctor said everything is fine. every pregnancy is different, you never know how your body will react!

Re: Am I crazy to base TTC on a weight loss goal?
I gained about 15lbs while I was pregnant. After my D&E I lost an immediate 5lbs and still have 10 more to go in order to get back to my pre-pregnancy weight. I've been dieting.. going to the gym .. and I can't seem to lose ANYTHING
I am able to start up again with the RE in less than 2wks. I kept saying I wanted to lose the weight first, especially since I get so bloated on the fertility drugs as it is .... but it just doesn't seem like that will happen. A part of me wants to hold off until I lose the 10lbs, but I know my desire to try again will totally overpower my desire to lose that weight. Who knows how long it will take anyway For all I know, I have another 5 + months to lose the weight

Re: Am I crazy to base TTC on a weight loss goal?
Meh- I had an extra 10-15 on me when I got pregnant with my 2nd. Then lost all that baby weight from #2 relatively quickly. I got pg with #3 still up about 10 pounds from my original pre-baby body.
My thought is, as long as you're not morbidly obese where it's a health issue, why kill yourself losing all that weight only to gain it all back? I figured, I'd wreck my body for a couple years by having them back to back, then worry about it all later.
Now that I am DONE having babies, I finally have my body back and can concentrate on *really* losing the weight. I'm about 20 pounds up from my goal weight at this point.

Re: Am I crazy to base TTC on a weight loss goal?
My friend gained quite a lot with her first preg. and her and her husband decided not to TTC until she lost that weight. It has taken her a year and a half to do so. But she is so excited that she is healthier and will not have as many issues when she gets preg. again.
of course, they are young and have time. I was on WW and lost 15 pounds before I got preg. I would love to lose it and more after my baby is born, but being 34, I don't have a few years to wait in between kids!

not at all- I was 20 lbs heavier than I would have liked when I got pregnant. Now I feel like I have that much more to lose after baby is born. For next time we TTC, I want to be at a healthier weight.

I intended on losing weight before getting pregnant.
Guess the baby had other plans.
I'm a little worried about being overweight and pregnant, but I know I'll have to talk about this with the OB at my first appt.

Thx for the replies ladies. Glad to know I'm not the only one.
PS I was so good on my diet for almost 2 weeks and then this weekend really fell off the wagon BIG TIME. It all started with a box of Godiva

Re: Am I crazy to base TTC on a weight loss goal?
I didn't want to TTC till I lost 10lbs but then I realized that I wanted the baby more - esp not knowing how long it would take to loose It is up to each person - once I got my BFP I lost 10lbs the first 2 weeks from m/s Good Luck to you in your weight loss

Re: Am I crazy to base TTC on a weight loss goal?
Part of my criteria for TTC for #2 was that I had to be back to my pre-pregnancy weight (which happened at 9 months PP).
