Am I putting him to bed too early??

So DS was going to bed around 7pm, but the last few days he has been showing sleepy signs earlier and I have been putting him to bed around 6. Initially I thought it might be a fluke thing, but he went to bed at 5:45 tonight. He also hasn't been napping later in the afternoon as much which he used to consistently. He is 5.5 months old.
That just seems super early to me, but I don't know! He still wakes at least once a night regardless of what time he goes to bed to eat then usually sleeps until about 6am. If I don't put him down before he gets overtired he is a mess and can't fall asleep. I know the obvious answer is keep putting him to bed at 6 or when he is sleepy, do any of you have DC who go to bed that early, especially at this age?

None of my children went to bed that early but as for the amount of sleep I think it's fine. My kids would usually sleep 7pm to 7am or 8pm to 8am so 6pm to 6am doesn't sound odd to me. Enjoy

My DD always went to sleep around 5:30 and slept 14 hours or so until the last few months....now she is going down a bit later.

I put DD down anywhere between 6-7. Today she was a BEAST so I put her down at 5:30. Regardless- she WILL be up at 5:30- so I'll take the earlier bedtime!!!

DS went to bed between 6-6:30 until he turned 2. I just recently started putting him to bed later, but on days when he misses his nap I try to get him to sleep between 6:30-7.

At that age my kids went to bed at 6 pm and slept until 5:30-6 am. They took three naps a day, 7:30 am-9, 11-1, and 3:00-3:45.

When DS was younger, he would go into bed sometimes at 5:00 pm, and wake at 6:00 am. Doesn't sound too early to me.

No way...i say put them in when they are tired!! Who wants to deal with a cranky baby that cannot fall asleep. I made the mistake a few nights ago..i thought it was a better idea to see how it goes if he goes in later. Long story short..he wok eup the same time!!

DS went to bed at 6-6:30 at that age..He did until recently, and now he goes to bed at 7-7:30...

At that age, my DD was in bed at 6:00 also. It seems early from our prospective but from a baby's prospective...it's just right!

My DS usually goes to sleep between 7:30 and 8:00 and will always sleep 9 to 10 hours straight. If he is tired, let him sleep

That sounds fine to me. My DS has been going to bed at 6pm since he was about 4 months and now he is 9 months old. He usually sleeps until 5:30-6:00am. There are times that I put him to bed at 5:45 when he is really tired.

My kids were always waking up from their naps at that time! I always had kids that went to bed closer to 9 and slept in until at least 9! So I guess it really depends on how much total sleep they are getting!

When Jack naps earlier in the morning and doesn't sleep for the rest of the day he is in bed by 5:45 and sleeps through until about 5:30am.

DS is 5 months and he is going to bed around 9 and is out cold. I should probably put him to bed earlier, but I want to spend time with him before he goes to bed. I think he is ready to go to bed around 8, but I give him is last feeding aroun 8:30.
