I figure, it's not like I'm doing a shot, I'm sipping wine with a meal.
Anyone else?

I did not drink while preggo, but my Dr. also said an occasional glass of wine was ok.

Serious question though....

I thought a glass of wine, a shot of liquor and a beer all had the same alcohol content? If thats true, then no the visual image of slamming a shot is not there but sipping wine may have the same alcohol content. Chat Icon

That's true enough, but wine is taken into the blood stream slowly as opposed to that amount of alcohol entering the blood stream in one shot. Also, whenever I drink wine I always drink it while eating and always drink water as well. Both of these things will dilute the amount of alcohol. Not to mention, a glass of wine will last me from start to finish of a meal.

Re: am I the only one who hasn't cut out all alcohol?

I am not drinking now because I am afraid my body will reject it and I will get sick. I am also not a big drinker so I don't really miss it.

I have to say, though, that I think our own mothers may have done things during pregnancy that today's doctors would frown upon and as we can see we are all here to talk about it. I think women may also have small amounts of wine during pregnancy in other countries.

We can sit and debate every little thing but we all need to just use common sense and know how to listen to our bodies. I have been riding horses since I was 9 and I am 30 now. I am 12 weeks pg and I still ride and some people could freak out and ask how I could take that risk but it is something that keeps me sane and I know my limits and I have modified my riding plan.

Use your brain and your own conscience and you should be okay.

I personally saw no need it taking a chance. I could wait 9 months to have a drink.

Same here, but my friends doctor also said it was ok esp when you have contractions (helps you relax.) I haven't discussed it with my dr. b/c I just don't feel comfortable doing it. I know women who have and I don't judge them for their decisions.

I could never, just not worth it for me. The alcohol can wait! I would def have a glass a wine 2 weeks before my due date, before that no friggin way.

I haven't had a drink since I found out I was PG. Even at my wedding (New Year's Eve) I had the tiniest sip of champagne that you can imagine. That is my personal decision.

I cannot imagine ever taking that risk, but to each her own.
