Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
I just always thought I would LOVE being pregnant. My Mom always told me that she never felt more beautiful then when she was pregnant with me. I feel guilty because I don't feel this way....I don't feel sick or nauseous or anything, but I am just not enjoying myself. I just want her out already. I feel pretty unattractive and just, well...big. Literally everyone I talk to says they loved being pregnant and I'm left feeling as if I am missing out on something. Does anyone feel like me?

Don't feel guilty. It's prob because you're close to the end & are extra uncomfortable now

I am there with you. While I love the fact that my little one is coming soon and we will be blessed that we can have a child, I totally hated the pregnancy phase.
ETA: nothing that I had expected.

I so agree with you and I have been feeling guilty about it as well. I LOVE being pregnant emotionally but physically it is for the birds. I don't understand how some woman can say getting bigger by the day, swollen feet, etc is fun! Maybe, it is just you and I but I agree it is not so fun. I am not saying it is not worth it. I would be pregnant for 10 years if I had to be in order to have a baby! Hang in there!

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
Don't worry I know you are not alone!!!! During my pregnancy with my DD I hated it!!! I covered it up as much as could(Baggy Baggy sweaters a big deal then!!) I couldn't wait to get it over with I felt then when I had her I wanted so much to have her back inside! and close to me at all times!! I thought if I didn't keep her at my side something bad would happen?!? It got worse when I stopped breastfeeding!! I was so attached to her !!! Sometimes that's the funny way bonds happen! She's going to be 8 on 5/29/07 and she loves my belly! (Especially since it's a boy! )
So don't worry!!! You are going to have your best friend soon!
[sorry so long thought sharing would help]

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
You are definitely not alone. While there are some things I LOVE about being pregnant - my body is definitely NOT one of them. I don't like that my body is constantly changing and I have no control over it and I hate that I cannot guage day to day what will look good on me. I just don't have very high self esteem these days. But - that said - there are many things about being pregnant that I do love so I take the good with the bad.
That said - I have seen you post pics - from your vacation I think and you look AMAZING - seriously, you should be proud because you look really terrific!

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
me - i never thought about how i'd feel being pregnant. i knew i wanted a baby and to be a mother but never thought about the actual pregnancy. its only early 2nd trimester and i seriously doubt i'm going to "love" being pg. I think its ok to feel this way. its hard to see/feel your body change almost every day and have no control about it.
sometimes i think the lack of illness emphasizes that. We can't really appreciate how fortunate we are not to be sick because we haven't been sick. Does this make sense? If it weren't for my changing growing boobs & waist (and thighs ) i'd forget i'm pg. oh and the lovely blue veins that keep popping up everywhere. the emphasis on looks in our society stinks!
I saw your pics and you are one hot mama so chin up pretty girl!!! You've made it this far - it will be over soon .

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
Thanks for this post. I needed to say this to someone. I am hating being pregnant. I am having so much illness and feeling discomfort 24/7 and predictions are it will get worse. I look forward to the birth and after but its the middle that I am having problems with. I have many pregnant friends who arnt sick and not able to understand how I feel so aalot is inside since I dont want to seem ungrateful but the sad truth had I known I would have all these complications I may not have gotten pregnant again.
P.S I love my baby and cant wait to met her.

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
I love the fact I'm going to have a baby, not the process really. I just don't complain too much because it is a blessing and I try to remind myself when I am feeling huge and blowfish like. I also try to visualize holding my sweet potato and then going for a long run outside as daddy watches the baby. Try to think of how lucky you are, so many would love to be in your shoes. (But I totally understand not loving being preggo.)
Soon that will be a reality!!!

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
My pregnancy was basically wonderful, until the end when I was so uncomfortable. BUT..I really didnt care for being pregnant. And it had nothing to even do with the way I looked. I jut didnt like it at all. I felt like I was taken over by someone else, which I was basically LOL
I was scared to death of labor..and the end result. I hated going to the doctor so much. I hated feeling uncomfortable..the only part I liked was the maternity clothes and showing, that was it.
Once my baby was here, thats when life started for me. Pregnancy STUNK!

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
Lately I have been hating it. I see all the cute spring clothes out right now and wish I could wear them. I have been sick with a cold and of course can't really take anything strong. My back has been KILLING me. Plus I miss sitting out on my deck with a cocktail. I know it will all be worth it once she arrives, and I can't wait, I just think that I'm getting to that, "Is this over?" stage now.

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
I hated being pregnant with Jules and hate being pregant a little less with this one... maybe bc I knew how horrible I would feel so I braced myself for it. I hated the wight, the shortness of breath and the attention it drew to me... but it's sooooo worth it at the end. Don't feel bad, everyone feels what they feel... you are not a bad person because of it...

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
I loved being pregnant the first time. I think it was because I was working and always out and about. Now that I'm home pregnant with my second, I just feel fat, tired, and uncomfortable all the time. I think having to care for a toddler while pregnant is really draining too. We were planning on having a 3rd child but after how I've been feeling during this pregnancy, I'm not sure if I would want to do it again. I just don't have the energy and I don't feel like myself at all.

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
I am so glad you posted this as well. I respect your honesty. I feel the same way at times. I dont hate being pregnant per se but I am not totally in love with it. I do want to have more kids but dont know if i want to go through it emotionally for a little while. Emotionally pregnancy has taken a toll on me. I have highs and lows. I miss going out to lounges with friends, i miss DH looking at me lustfully, I miss wearing my cute tight sexy clothing. I dont really like the weight gain which is what I really gives me a problem. But all in all I love my little one so much already and if i have to eat 10 times and pee 15 times a day to keep him/her happy I will. The baby has taken over my body and there is nothing i can do about it.

Re: Am I the only one who is really not loving pregnancy?
You are not alone - I thought I would enjoy it much more then I have been.
Getting up to pee at least once an hour all night long, the unbelieveable heartburn, the back aches, the feeling that my bones are going to break bc I have to much weight on them, the zits randomly placed on my body, should I go on???!!!
Oh - and I have never looked so ugly before in my life!

Me. Didn't like it the first time and don't like it this time. Nothing to feel guilty about. It isn't a fun process.

Thanks everyone for your replies. After I posted I went out and did some errands and started feeling so horrible about writing what I did...I wanted to run back home and delete the thread. I started thinking about how blessed I am to have become pregnant so quickly while it takes others such a long time....
But, now I'm glad I kept the thread up. While I still feel guilty for feeling the way I do, I am glad to know I am not alone.
And Vegalady...you hit the nail on the head...I miss going out with my friends to lounges, and I miss the way DH used to look at me and I miss my tight sexy clothes as well....but, like all of you have said it is totally worth it in the end. I can't wait to meet my little girl...I just know my bonding time with her will happen once she is actually here in my arms.

I think I am very lucky, but it doesn't mean that it will be enjoyable.
