am i the only one with carriage doors on my garage??

Sometimes i feel like the only one with an old house...

We have OLD wood carriage doors on our garage that are falling apart. Yesterday the wood edge panel surounding the glass windows cracked and pulled away and 3 glass panels broke. It is not just about fixing the glass at this pt - the door is falling apart.

So i started calling around to get estimates for a new garage door and we are looking at THOUSANDS of dollars if we want to maintain the swing out style of the doors Oh and the swing out doors only come in WOOD - i really wanted something more durable like vinyl or steel

I have 1 company that said they could make a roll-up door work even in the tightest situations so maybe i will give their estimate a shot.

This really really sucks... For those that know me, this is just the icing on the cake that is this house!!!

they can make a Regular roll up door look like and old barn style doors.

I know... We have a detached garage so it's in the rear of our house - the look isn't a HUGE issue for me - i would like it to look the same but can deal with change

In the spring we redid the interior of our garage and DH built loft storage which is in the upper portion of our garage. If we end up having to get a roll-up door, essentially you will have to close the door behind you to access any of the overhead storage. Our garage only has 2 small windows so no light...then we have to worry about electricity - if the door is closed it will be mighty dark...

My neighbors have a roll up style carriage look garage door. They got it from Freeport Garage Door Look at the residential doors under products for some samples.
