Am i too sick to get the H1N1 vaccine?
Alot of you know i have been really sick lately. Last night i had a fever of 102.7 which is now 99.1 this morning so that's good but the lymph nodes in my neck both right and left sides are hella swollen and my throat still hurts just drinking water.
Do you think i should still get the shot tomorro morning or should i cancel my appointment?
Im just worried me being sick will be bad getting that shot.

You shouldn't get it if you are sick. I would try to reschedule.

You knowI am glad you asked this.
I read your other post and wanted to tell you that I would not get the shot if I were you. NO WAY.
You have had many medical issues that they are not sure what is going on...and how to get it under control. I think adding a vaccine (essp a new one) to the mix would be a very bad idea. I wanted to tell you that but didn't want to overstep my boundaries. So now I am glad you asked. I do NOT think you should get it, no way.

They won't give you the shot if you're sick anyway. My DH was suppose to get the regular flu shot a few weeks ago at his job but he was on the tail end of a cold and they wouldn't give it to him because his immune system was already comprised. I would imagine the same is true for H1N1.

Re: Am i too sick to get the H1N1 vaccine?
They say if you have a minor cold it is okay - but I think honestly I would hold off until you are healthy and your immune system is good. I don't know but I think if you are sick you might increase your chances of having more of a reaction.
I would consider getting it if you only had some minor congestion b/c that could be allergies but I would definitely NOT get it as long as you have a fever (and I would wait at least 24 hours after the fever is gone without any meds i.e. tylenol etc) before I would go for it.

You wouldn't have overstepped your boundaries at all. I appreciate everyone's replies. My infectious disease doc says my immune system will be weak and compromised for months because of the damage the staph did and now this sickness so he doesn;t recommend that i get it either. Im bummed but i want to be safe! Thanks you all for your replies!!
