Interesting - do you know who was behind the report? Was it a news station or an ad of some sort?

Re: Very Interesting H1N1 Vaccine Information

Thanks Gabi Chat Icon I'm definitely going to keep looking into this. My girlfriend who is an epidemiologist keeps reminding me that the common flu is much more deadly. She's my voice of reason. I'm going to send this her way & get her input.. Thanks again!!

It is a foreign news station. I will try and find out which one and let you all know if/when I do. Chat Icon

Re: Very Interesting H1N1 Vaccine Information

I don't know, but it didn't feel like a really legit news source Chat Icon The reporters report was a little fishy sounding overall. When he mentions court cases, which court cases? When he mentions scientists that developed vaccine, which labs? Its all a little too weird for me.

Personally, I probably wont get it the vaccine as I'll be working from home in he winter months. But its unnecessary to combat the paranoia with an overdose of misinformation.

Re: Very Interesting H1N1 Vaccine Information

Spoke with my uncle who is an OB/GYN and his girlfriend who is a infertility doctor yesterday and they were both pushing me to get it - my uncle is involved with CDC and he said that the flu shot is a must for women who are pregnant. There have been a higher number of fatalities for pregnant women. I think he said the shot would not pass to the baby - it was hard to get the info from them b/c they were both yelling at me!! I was nervous about getting it, but I work, take public transportation - it seems only logical.

I can't see the video since I am at work, but I am not taking any shots with mercury in them while pregnant because it can go to the fetus. If we are to avoid certain fish because of the risk of mercury, I don't understand why we are told to get these vaccines? Chat Icon

Re: Very Interesting H1N1 Vaccine Information

I can't see the video at work but thimerosal-free doses of the H1N1 vaccine will be available for pregnant woman and young children. That has been in the paper and news numerous times - if that is what the video's major thrust is, I would take it with a grain of salt. i am more nervous about other side effects b/c of the newness of this vaccine.

I can't see the video either but I just got into a tif with a friend over this so I looked up the CDC.

On thimerosal :

"Q: Does the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine have preservative in it?

A: There is no evidence that thimerosal (used as a preservative in vaccine packaged in multi-dose vials) is harmful to a pregnant woman or a fetus. However, because some women are concerned about exposure to preservatives during pregnancy, manufacturers will produce preservative-free seasonal and 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccines in single dose syringes for pregnant women and small children. CDC recommends that pregnant women may receive influenza vaccine with or without thimerosal. "

The site doesn't mention mercury. Is it really in the vaccine?

This is the subject my friend is worried about:

"Q: What safety studies have been done on the 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine and have any been done in pregnant women?

A: A number of clinical trials which test 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine in healthy children and adults are underway. These studies are being conducted by the National Institutes of Allergies and Infectious Diseases (NIAID). Studies of 2009 H1N1 influenza vaccine in pregnant women are expected to begin in September. "

She says we will be the pregnant guinea pigs for this vaccine. I don't know if I am should be scared more of the vaccine or the flu....
