Our country United under one blue voice....

. Nope, it’s the free market place. Capitalism. Supply and demand. Capitalist businesses moving towards what their customers want. Republicans have always moved towards smaller federal government oversight in business. This is what it looks like sometimes

I’m sure many don’t agree, but most politicians and people in power don’t belong on Twitter or Facebook. Have your press secretary or someone represent you. I find it odd that the pope is on social media. It just cheapens the title. In my eyes, the are above us and don’t belong on there. I honestly wish all social media would go away at this point and we go back 15/20 years to the good ole days.

But therein lies the problem. When you write "they are above us and don't belong on there." They aren't above us. Politicians are elected officials, who can be voted in or voted out.

That is sort of one of the big issues here - people thinking Trump is a Demi-god who tells his followers what to do and how to think. He isn't above us. He is politician who was just voted out of office.

100% agree.

They work for us. Not the other way around.

It's not difficult for politicians to use social media properly. Most politicians on either side do so without issue. Comment on major issues, share if you're sponsoring legislation, etc. But we don't need constant word vomit that details every petty thought that ever entered your head.

99% of politicians seem to know how to use social media. They post about bills they are writing, voting on, things that are relevant to their position, etc.

Even Mitch McConnell, whom I can't stand, does a very good job of using Twitter.

Little Diva - move to a monarchy country if you want to be led by someone above you. North Korea might meet your needs. I won’t say much about the Pope but he’s a religious leader. Not a head of state. Hundreds of years ago, people made a distinction.

In America, politicians are pubic servants. They are below us, working for us - in theory. And as many pointed out, they use social media to further democracy - sharing their votes and intentions in connection with their people. Which can be a beautiful thing.

If you are in cult45, please seek help.

They are not above us. They represent us. There's nothing wrong with them using social media to connect with their constituents. As long as it's used properly (and not to propagate baseless conspiracies, lies, and misinformation and to attack people) it's a non-issue.

This is really uncalled for. People really need to chill and stop jumping on every word that people say because you don't get the point they were trying to make.

I agree with her to a point. People voted into office need to be held at a higher standard, even though they are civil servants. They are the ones making the decisions on our lives. They are the ones that need to work "for the all people". In this day and age were every single thing offends someone, it is only smart to have a professional look over or even manage their social media accounts and not just post or tweet whenever they feel the need.

I know, I understood her point as well. And if Trump wasn’t “above us” wouldn’t his @ss be in jail or out of the White House already? I know I would be in jail. I’m pretty sure her point was that they have a power of authority, we clearly don’t have. Regardless of whether they work for us or not.

Her wording was off, but I know what she was trying to say. She meant holding them to a higher standard. Which they are and should be. I still disagree with her about their use of social media. As long as they're professional about it it's a non-issue for me. Trump has never acted professional a day in his life. Of course he was going to abuse Twitter and use it to spread lies and dangerous conspiracies. He should've been removed from Twitter years ago.

Agreed and that was the issue with trump. He was using it as if he was NOT a leader but a disgruntled guy sitting in his mine mother’s basement trolling the internet.

Ok so maybe wrong choice of words. I was implying that I see Facebook and all that as so cheap and trashy. When I vote for someone it’s because i respect them. My perspective, I hate social media and think it’s responsible for the downfall of society. So I just feel like people in positions of power should be leading by example and social media needs to be moved to the back burner and REAL news reporting like in the old days needs to be how people get information. Not from people who learned politics on social media and spread lies.

So I just feel like people in positions of power should be leading by example and social media needs to be moved to the back burner and REAL news reporting like in the old days needs to be how people get information. Not from people who learned politics on social media and spread lies.

REAL news reporting has taken a beating from Trump and his cult following because every time they hear something they don't like or agree with regardless of fact they call it 'fake news'. After a while they start believing their own lies. He's disrespected journalists on a daily basis and worked tirelessly to convince his cult followers that reporters and the media are the enemy of the state. Do you know how many journalists and their equipment were attacked by the mob during the insurgency just for doing their job?

Ok so maybe wrong choice of words. I was implying that I see Facebook and all that as so cheap and trashy. When I vote for someone it’s because i respect them. My perspective, I hate social media and think it’s responsible for the downfall of society. So I just feel like people in positions of power should be leading by example and social media needs to be moved to the back burner and REAL news reporting like in the old days needs to be how people get information. Not from people who learned politics on social media and spread lies.

How many were attacked at the riots? How many innocent people were attacked.

If you actually pay attention, all these stations use the same script. Same words, same phrases. There is no real journalism anymore and I am old enough to know how it used to be.

This article is about Sinclair which runs the stations you tend to quote.

Did you read the article you posted? It talks about pro-Trump Sinclair broadcasting company, a media company with a strong conservative bias forcing all the local news stations they own to read a script to viewers. It's fake news gaslighting, exactly what I was talking about up thread.

Interesting as they also own ABC, CBS, NBC, left leaning stations.

This is local broadcast syndicated stations with local independent affiliates. The stations in the article are owned by Sinclair, which is right leaning.

These are all main media stations, the ones you watch that, as much as you want to think are conservative stations (minus Fox which has not been 100% since November), they are not.

The stations in the article are local stations. Many of them are smaller markets. They aren't owned by ABC or NBC. They're independently owned by Sinclair, which is a conservative media company. If the parent company has a strong bias in any direction, which direction do you think the local stations it owns are going to spin? The script the broadcasters were forced to read (or lose their job) was propaganda to discredit the media and to fuel Trump's "fake news" gaslighting nonsense.
