American Eagle.. I am PI*SED!
My mom bought my sister and myself these really nice hoodie/jackets for x-mas. They USED TO have really soft fake fur on the hood.
Keyword being USED TO!
Since I mostly just wore it over other things, the other day was the first time I decided to wash it. I was actually about to bring it to the dry cleaners because of the fur (I didn't think it would be a good idea to wash the fur) when I looked inside it and saw that it specifically said DO NOT DRY CLEAN.
Okay, fine.. so I followed the directions and washed and dryed it the way I was supposed to. I take it out of the dryer.. annnnddd.. the fur is all matted and nasty looking.
This hoodie was $80 and one of my favorite things I got for x-mas. I am pissssseee*d. I tried to brush it.. LoL.. but it still looks terrible.
IDK what to do. I don't have the reciept because I loved it and had no plans of returning it.
Oh.. and I asked my sister why her's still looks nice.. and she said she refuses to wash it..
ETA: Maybe someone can think of a way to try and fix it? I was thinking about maybe wetting and combing it then letting it air dry.. or maybe blow drying it? I'm a nut.. but I reaally liked it. I can't really tell if the fur is just matted or actually kind of singed.

This may sound crazy, but you can try to bring it back to AE. Just tell them that the zipper doesn't work properly and keeps getting stuck. I did this once with a Gap jacket. It was wool and like an idiot I wash it and it shrunk so tiny I couldn't wear it anymore. So I figured I would try returning it for store credit and it worked. Not sure if you want to try that though. Just a thought.

Re: American Eagle.. I am PI*SED!
So sorry - same thing happened to me with a banana republic coat that DH had bought me - it had fake fur around the hood part and was not removeable so I had to wash it and dry it like that. Well, the "fur" part was RUINED!!! It looked like cotton afterwards! Originally it was fluffy fur, and now it looks horrible. (Mine is so clumpy that I think it did melt in the dryer and I tried to comb it too - LOL - but nada).
The only solution for me is to bring it to my seamstress - she said for about $15-20 she would replace it with a new strip of fake fur.
