I had to watch with closed captions on because I found Jessica Lange's accent difficult to understand. I also think Kathy Bates' accent is just annoying. I couldn't figure out what it's supposed to be, Irish? The clown was really creepy and that's enough to hold my interest.
I had a premier party and we were discussing Kathy Bates' accent - consensus was Amish. LOL
It's a Midwestern accent. It's just as unpleasant to listen to as a real one.

I liked it. However, I'm not crazy that the songs the characters sing are from the "future". It's set in the 50s, right? Jessica Lange sang a Bowie song and I saw a preview with the twins singing Fiona Apple. (unless I'm missing something)

Yes, I didn't take it as rape. Just a freak show orgy and I was very disturbed by it lol. I was also confused. Why was she happy in it and yet crying like she hated it after. Also why is she even there? I'm confused by this as well as that scene others referred to when jessica L was singing and they showed a twin or flash back. I'll def continue to watch. That clown is nightmare material!

I've lived in Wisconsin (the Midwest) for 8+ years now, and I've never heard anyone speak the way she does--like, not even close. If that's what Kathy Bates was going for, she SERIOUSLY missed the mark by a mile.
I'm with the others that said they LOVED season 1 and hated season 2. I liked last season but felt like they could have done a lot more with the witches storyline. I was happy with it overall though.
I think this season has potential to be great. I hope we don't end up disappointed.

I'm an idiot lol. Thanks! Yea I figured she was smoking something. I was so uncomfortable watching that scene. Weird though because they (the "freaks') don't seem to be harmful (except of course to that detective), why would they do that?

I think that's the point. They try to make us sympathize, but start to give us a glimpse of what they are capable of.

I liked it so far...Ryan Murphy says he knows what he is doing for next season already. He said the first 2 episodes have clues. I'll be on the look out.
