thanks all
we're not stupid
we're not gonna spend thousands of dollars and commit all of this time, until we ask the questions and do the tests to find out why the chemicals keep happening.
no one is telling us anything we didn't already think of - we have a list of questions three pages long.
No one thinks you guys are stupid.
Just making sure your bases are covered.
I would rather hear stuff I already know on the off chance that someone thinks of something I didn't, you know?
Just lending support.

I only miscarried once but my RE had me do a whole battery of immunological testing. Turned out I have MTHFR -which may or may not have been the reason I miscarried. But they put me on Lovenox in order to prevent the clotting, and THAT IVF was the one that worked...
I wish you success in whatever you decide to do, we are all here for support.
Thanks Kara, question but what is MTHFR?

Re: An update on me...
I am so sorry you had to go through this again. I also agree with Kara, Donna and Leighla. My Dr. told me that if this IVF cycle doesn't work, he's sending me for immunological testing and also a water sono to make sure there are no problems with my uterus that may prevent the embryo from implanting.
There are a million different things going on and the only way to find out most of this stuff is by asking questions or reading about other peoples issues. When I think back to what I knew a year ago as opposed to what I know now - it's astounding. And I still don't know everything...the thing about the chromosones and the eggs is totally new to me.

Re: An update on me...
And I just wanted to let you know about my balanced translocation because I got it from my mom, who had a lot of miscarriages, and I have it and gave it to my son that passed away. No one EVER thought of testing me for it. And its not something they would normally test for. But it's a good question to ask, anyway.

Thanks Kara, question but what is MTHFR?
Basically it's a genetic predisposition to having clotting issues -- which can cause miscarriage.
Here's a great link, but Melijane has a ton of info on this too.
If you look on the pregnancy board there are quite a few women who are on Lovenox (a blood thinner used to treat MTHFR) - so it isn't so rare, but a lot of REs even don't test for it...

Aww I'm so sorry for you both. You are very brave, that must have been a horrid weekend for you.
Good luck with your IVF. Did Dr. Chu say anything more about the cyst?
If you need any info on the grant just ask. DH & I are starting our 2nd (& last) cycle on the grant at the end of this month.
Thinking about you

Re: An update on me...
First . I cant add anything that hasnt been said already but I do think it is important to explore why they arent sticking before making the financial and emotional investment in IVF.
That is sort of where I am right now. I dont want to do another treatment until I feel comfortable knowing I have explored every possibility (to the best I personally can). Sometimes its hard to fight the urge to try again because I am just so eager, but know it is better to wait.
When you go to your IVF consult will be an excellent opportunity to ask these questions.
This board has been very helpful to me in coming up with questions to ask, I know sometimes I feel like saying yeah I know that already, but sometimes it is something I havent thought of.
Good luck to you both!

I agree Here is some info from the Yahoo Immunology Board The indications are as follows: (a) Two miscarriages or two IVF or GIFT failures after age 35 or three miscarriages or IVF or GIFT failure before age 35, (b) poor egg production from a stimulated cycle (less than 6 eggs), (c) one blighted ovum, (d) idiopathic infertility, (e) previous immune problems (ANA positive, rheumatoid arthritis, and/or lupus), (f) previous pregnancies that have shown retarded fetal growth, and (g) one living child and repeat miscarriages while attempting to have a second child.
For additional risk factor information, you may want to visit the Autoimmune Superchecklist:
Link
Also-no flames please! It would seriously concern me that an RE would say she knows your eggs are good because of your age?! Do a search for Premature Ovarian Failure-there are girls that are 22 that have this! I assume she tested your fsh levels? that is one indicator(although that has come under some scrutiny as well) As Lauren said there could also be chromosomal issues which I assume you've been tested for. My lesson learned from my journey is to be SO OBNOXIOUSLY proactive that I am annoying! Take from that what you will. Everyone must choose their own path. Good luck to you and I hope you get a BFP out of this.

Kara is right. In addition MTHFR changes the way your bosy processes folic acid so you need to take a special form of folic acid and in great amounts added with B vitamins(my scrip is called Mtanx, there is also Folgard) along with a blood thinner from 1 dpo

Re: An update on me...
I'm sorry to hear, I have a problem with recurrent miscarriages and chemicals and have been told IUI and IVF wouldn't work for us but after two chemicals I did have my son and now four miscarriages later we are still trying and praying for another miracle later on this month since they can't find any reason for them. I wish a miracle baby for you guys as well!

I agree with the other poster about your incredible attitudes.
I have no answer, no advice, nothing that will help you make a decision, but I can offer many, many prayers to both yourself, your dh, and others in this situation....including myself.

thanks

i apologize if some of my comments were blunt yesterday

and yes, everyone made good points that there indeed may be a reason why we keep having chemicals. IVF wouldn't be the answer in that case. We will exhaust all scenarios before we proceed.
But, the word "can't" isn't in our vocabulary - so when we read that something may not work - we get a little heated.
In the end, we will have a child. If we do everything we can and she still can't get PG or keep a PG, that means that God's telling us, "my world is overcrowded, and I need you to raise one of my children that otherwise wouldn't be in the best situation"
We'll have a kid - just a matter of time
