Anatomy Scan vs. Level 2
I see both of these phrases used on here. I am scheduled for an anatomy scan next Thursday at 21 weeks. I thought they were the same, but then when I just googled info they said a Level 2 may be called if there are abnormalities at the anatomy scan. What is the difference?

Re: Anatomy Scan vs. Level 2
In my practice, they are the same. Level 2 is an anataomy scan. They check all the parts and organs of the baby and can determine the sex.

i think that they are technically different....but people on here use the terms interchangeably. I am not really sure what the exact difference is though.

Re: Anatomy Scan vs. Level 2
I think of the level 2 as an anatomy scan at around 20 weeks.
I've had 3 anatomy scans for this LO, (15, 16 and 20), so I use anatomy scan for the 15 and 16 week ones...level 2 for the 20 week one.

My OB does a general anatomy scan at 20 w. They send you to a specialist for a thorough Level 2 if any abnormalities are detected (in our case, a white spot on DD's heart). Otherwise, you only get an anatomy scan.
I asked at my office and they do not consider an anatomy scan and a level 2 the same thing. If you want to know what your OB says, just ask the scheduler or the nurse.

Re: Anatomy Scan vs. Level 2
I'm looking at my script for my appointment next week and there are a few boxes checked, including "anatomy scan" and "level II sonogram." I've never had any indication that there was anything wrong though. So I think it probably depends on the practice.

Re: Anatomy Scan vs. Level 2
Thanks girls, it seems some practices use them interchangeably and some differentiate. The receptionist wrote anatomy scan, so that is what I'm going with.
