It would be for me- but I don't begrudge anyone for thinking it's weird. People have different thoughts, feelings and opinions...I'm wondering when some people on LIF are going to start accepting that and not being so defensive about everything...
IMHO, it is one thing to say :that would not be an option for me: and another thing to say :that is disturbing:
That is just my opinion. everyone is entitled. I am just trying to understand the other side of the coin

What a wonderful thing she did for her daughter. And if I could, I would do it for mine in a minute.
I've also learned "never say never". You don't know where life is going to take you.

I completely agree that you should never say never.
But…..I see nothing wrong with someone saying they find it disturbing, just like I see nothing wrong with someone saying they find it beautiful, its just how they feel, their is no right or wrong answer,. To each their own. The choice of having or not having children, or the method used to have children is a very personal choice and we all have our own feeling about what we find acceptable or not, and we have a right to those feelings what ever they are.
Personally I am taken a back by it, but I have never had fertility problem so I have no idea what that feels like. I do think it can be confusing for those involved. I know what I felt when I gave birth and the idea of having to hand the child I just gave birth to anyone, would have killed me. So I wonder what this will do the grandmother carrying the child for 9 months and then having to in essence give them up.
Now I don’t know if that is the same when it’s a surrogate, but I know I have read many articles and spoke with my Doctor about this and from what I understand that bond starts from when the child is in utero.
I guess for me asking my mother to carry my child would not be totally off the table, but certainly the last option I would consider after exhausting all others.
Again to each their own, and if this works for them then good for them.

This just shows how true a mothers love can be. She gave her daughter the greatest gift. My sister offered to carry a baby for my dh and I when we were going throug all the IF testing. She offered again for #2 if we need it. I think it is a selfless and beautiful gift, whether it be from a mother, sister or friend.

Saying "I personally wouldn't do this" is a LOT different than saying "that is creepy or weird."
You have a point.
