angel at daycare- devil at home??

Bryan just started daycare 3 days and my bil 2 days and they all report how wonderful he is never cries no tantrums- never acts out, laid back etc. And as soon as he gets hojme its nothing but tantrums, screaming, crying... What is going on- So you think he is mad at us for leaving or he is just on his best behavior in public- but can an 18 month old even do that?? Im confused of what to make of this all.

Jack does that to my husband when he gets home from work every night.
I can see how frustrating it is because I know it hurts my Dh.

For us, Dh dropping everything and instantly playing with Jack upon coming home has helped out ALOT.

Re: angel at daycare- devil at home??

My DD never cries at daycare...Listens to all of the teachers, never throws tantrums....always goes down for her nap without a problem.

When she is home at night/on weekend...now that is a different story!

I don't think that they are mad at us for leaving them... I think it's more of they miss us and they want our undivided attention when they get home.

DD is in daycare from 8:00 until 5:00. It's a long day and I think when she get's home she is destressing in her own way--tantrums etc.

As far as being old enough at 18 months to consciously act one way in public etc..... You'd be amazed

Being that my mom is a daycare provider, she gets this too..they behave with her and go home and are different.

Maybe because there are other children around that occupies him there.

Re: angel at daycare- devil at home??

This is my daughter to a "T"... it's not just daycare, it's anytime she's out and about with other people. I think for us, it's a boredom factor. She needs a LOT of stimulation and at daycare she gets just that with all the teachers, toys, playtime, music and art classes and kids/babies, but at home, she gets bored within 10 minutes and starts throwing a fit Chat Icon
