Animal Kingdom Lodge
Realistically how far is it from MK. Is it THAT bad of a bus ride?

If you don't like the buses, or barely tolerate them, don't do it. We know it's going to be a longer ride (5-10 minutes longer than other resorts) and it doesn't bother us.

They dont bother us. Let's put it this way....we have stayed in Caribbean Beach and we are booked in POR but considering switching to AKL instead. DD is 3.5 yrs old. Is this a BAD idea or is it not a big deal?

Haven't stayed there since before the villas were built but hontest the bus ride wasn't bad. Not the convenience of say the poly but we didn't find it horrible.

Would it be horrendous with my DD? Worse off than say another Moderate? Its not like we are deciding between AKL and Poly, we are deciding between AKL and a moderate.

Re: Animal Kingdom Lodge
I personally love the AKL. The mods are a little closer but thn they have more bus stops so you lose a few mins there. It IS further away but none of our friends IRL have complained about the distance. Just as long as you are ok that it isn't right there you should be okay. I think all the bus rides are a pain though in general. When we stayed at the poly we shared buses with the contemporary. We might as well have been much further away on those trips bc it took a while to make the stop. I mean if you have to load a wheel chair or lots of people making 2-4 stops in the resort can take up the time you are actually traveling to the park. If you lookk at the ultimate guide to WDW there is usually a chart that tells you how long best and worst case from bus and car to each of the parks from each hotel. I believe I read the AKL Villas (kadini) are 1st stop so they go straight to the park from the main lodge jambo house.

Yacht Club, Beach Club, BoardWalk, Swan, & Dolphin often share a bus - yeah, now that's a long trip! AKL is a walk in the park compared to that run. AKL does do two stops - Kidani Village and Jambo House.

Have they changed anything? Friends who have stayed there say they always went 1st to kadini than the main building.

Interesting. Great point!!! I didnt know that. We have to decide today.
I just feel like you get more for your money at AKL compared to the mods. Yes its a little more but I feel like I am getting SO much more. Am I wrong?

I would surely switch if I was trading one bus for another.
