I apologize. I'm sorry. It was wrong of me to post and I apologize to anyone who is truly going through a difficult time right now. I don't mean to offend nor diminish anyone's feelings.
I obviously did and I'm sorry.

I mean, sure, but that shouldn’t diminish someone’s valid feelings if they’re having a rough time balancing their lives - working from home, essential worker, unemployed, homeschooling kids, dealing with anxiety or depression, etc. We have different lives and expectations than she did at the time. But we also have politicians that are spreading lies that seem to be confusing some people about the validity of what’s going on. Additionally - Nazis were a very real and tangible threat. If we could see C-19 in the air, I bet people would be more likely to follow orders and understand the gravity of the situation.

Zero comparison

For People who still have an income, it’s easier said then done.

Plenty of people have zero income , mortgages to pay, food to buy, etc., etc. it’s not just about wanting a mani - pedi. It’s about earning a living so they don’t lose everything they’ve worked very hard for. So many Small businesses are Done. No way of reopening.

Take a step out of the bubble for a second and look around at your fellow humans suffering.

Difference is if the Nazis found her, pretty much 100% chance of death.
If I get this virus, pretty good chance of survival.

If Nazis were looking for me, I'd feel differently than I do now, trust me

Hiding from murderers.

Perspective.
We are spoiled.

Hey MissJones, maybe everyone isn’t as “incredibly blessed” as you are. Hard to believe, I know!

I am not going to be called spoiled because I am a single parent working full time from home with a profoundly disabled child receiving BS teletherapy.

The lack of empathy for people who are struggling continually astounds me.

Tired of the sanctimony from people with paychecks, spouses and neurotypical children. Yes, this is easier for you. That doesn’t actually make you a better person than me.

So much self-congratulatory behavior on here.

Hang in there sweetie! My cousin is dealing with some of the same issues. The lack of empathy and the denial that people are severely struggling is disgusting. You shared your struggles and yet posters still can’t understand the fact that #stayhome isn’t always this beautiful new trend where you do diy’s and romp around in your back yard basking in the downtime.

Hopefully,it will get better soon Chat Icon Chat Icon

Thanks :) I am actually doing ok, but I feel for my son’s classmates who are in wheelchairs, etc, receiving practically nil services, whose parents might have to care for their child all summer long with no summer session, while people in their nice, big, safe houses are just. so. proud. of themselves for distancing so nicely! And it just confounds me that I even after I explain my situation, the smugness and sanctimony remains. Ugh this is just the most self-congratulatory, smug post. I want to wretch.

BINGO!

That comparison isn't perspective, it's just a way to diminish the VERY REAL stresses that people are facing right now. Things could always be worse but that doesn't mean this situation isn't freaking miserable for EVERYONE for a million different reasons.

Anne Frank spent 25 months in an attic...

People throughout history have had to endure horrific circumstances. There will always be someone who had it worse than you, or better than you. But we are still allowed to feel anxious, sad, hopeless, and scared when something like this is going on. Just because we are not hiding from Nazi's, does not mean we don't have the right to our feelings. This is a terrible situation.

Trust me, I have compassion. This is NOT about me being better than others. Trust me, I'm not.

But I'm talking about this board.

Let's be real.

A lot of us came from LIWeddings, where people spent tens of thousands of dollars on a day. That's a salary for some people. But we live on LI where we don't think twice to spend that. How much did you spend on your wedding? 40K, 60K?

How many on here are driving beater cars, wondering how they will afford to fix the heat for the winter months? Probably not many. I drive. I see high end cars all over the road. Pull into any beach, park, shopping center...Lexus, Infiniti, Acura, BMW, etc, etc.

How many on here are shopping for groceries at the dollar store? I mean, not for goody bag stuff, but for actual FOOD? As in THAT is the main source of your meals? As in you can only afford to spend $50 a week on food and you pray it will last?

How many take yearly vacations?
How many are still satisfying their need to do online shopping?
Or does your entire wardrobe consist of second hand clothes? I highly doubt it.

I have NO idea how children with severe disabilities are getting the services they need. My heart breaks for the elderly who are stuck in nursing facilities and can't see their families. For the people whose only source of income is closed. For children who are stuck at home with alcoholic or abusive parents. People who have to get cancer treatments without support. Nurses who are face timing families to say goodbye. Families who can't have a funeral. People who couldn't even say goodbye. You think I have no compassion?

This sucks. It really ***** sucks. We are all overwhelmed. It is stressful. But it hasn't even been 2 months.

We HAVE to get tougher. Because the truth is there ARE people with NO income. There ARE people wondering how they are going to feed their children.

But how many are on this board?

What difference does it make what cars we drive or how much money we have? We can't fight for others who are less fortunate?

What do you do for a living?

Ur long explanation is contradicting, u’re saying u have empathy and really feel for those who are seriously struggling but then u say they have to tough it up?!? Makes no sense.

That’s exactly the reason why ppl are protesting and demanding to be able to go back to work because they know nobody will fight for their family but themselves. When my kids were not allowed to continue receiving an education because of our religious beliefs and vaccines, it was very clear to me that nobody would stick up for them BUT me, I did many, many things out of my comfort zone to fight for them to have the same treatment, and the same rights as any other kid. Ppl who are suffering because their situation has greatly impacted their life, where they’re mandated to not work and to have to stay home, they have taken matters into their own hands and they’re fighting for their family, good for them! And fuk all those that dare to point their fingers at them!

Middle class is hurting more than most. Those making $60-$120k range. Has a $450k mortgage. 2 cars, Health coverage etc.they were sent home from work or had their business closed. Unemployment doesn’t come close (If you’re lucky enough to actually get it - I’ve been waiting over a month ) to their usual income. Then what? Bang out the credit cards if ya got them?
But don’t worry , we’re all in the same boat. Same storm maybe, but some boats are yachts and others are dinghies.

I think I understand where you were coming from posting. I can appreciate that I am fortunate. I do have days when I feel depressed about the current situation. I saw a meme about Anne Frank and that was something to help me put things in perspective when I was having a hard time.

What’s the number of unemployment now? It was 22 millions 2 weeks ago. I’m sure it has gone up since then.
