annoying vent...regarding naming the baby...
so many people are saying we should make our DS's middle name DH's fathers name....which is Salvatore ??? Can you imagine? Nothing against the name, I mean I don't really like it but our baby will only be like 1/4 italian...plus, Dh's parents didn't even name their own son (DH) after his father...why on Earth don't people keep their fat mouths shut?????? VENT!

Re: annoying vent...regarding naming the baby...
Isnt it funny how people think that they should have say in things like this? It's one thing to kindly make a suggestion but another to try to guilt or force someone into something!

If it matters to your DH you should think about it. The rest of the world has no say in the matter!

I find it funny how people can comment on certain things when it is other people. But like you said how come they didnt name your DH after him if they were so concerned. Dont stress over it. Do what makes you and DH happy.

Re: annoying vent...regarding naming the baby...
People's reactions to pregnancy never seems to amaze me!
Some people don't know when to stop and worry about their own problems - they seem to love to analyze and tell others what they should do.
Naming your child is a decision of you and your husband and thats it - i would never suggest to someone else what they should or shouldn't name their child.
very annoying

It sounds like an innocent opinion. You're still going to name the baby what you want so no harm done.

I havent had an issue this time around BUT in the past it was an issue...
And sometimes keeping it a secret is and issue b/c then someone THINKS you are naming the baby after them!

Re: annoying vent...regarding naming the baby...
It makes me nuts the way that people assume that its ok to comment on EVERYTHING regarding pregnancy and baby names etc.

Re: annoying vent...regarding naming the baby...
I am anticipating this problem as well. We are considering my father's name but would never use FIL's name. I just don't particularly care for it and it is not a "family name".

Re: annoying vent...regarding naming the baby...
I've noticed that people are the most opinionated about what name we chose more than anything else! It's so weird! Someone here at work asked me and with a big smile on my face I told her what we were naming her and she replied "Ohhhh, don't name her that".
You name that little one what you both want.

Re: annoying vent...regarding naming the baby...
DH and I are purposely not discussing baby names with any family members and friends.
I've mentioned the names that I like to some people at work and they are like whoa really ethnic names there why don't you go with something like Paige or Madison no offense to those names but I do come from a very Italian background DH and I are born 1st generation here and the names we like are normal to us and if we named our kids anything else it wouldn't feel right.
I wish people like that would keep their opinions to themselves and realize that their opinions don't matter. If you're not comfortable with the name don't do it and it should be respected by others.
It was very rude of those people to tell you that. If we have a girl I know my MIL is not going to like the name we picked out almost 7 years ago when we were dating. I to this day remember the face she made when I said Angelina. If I have a girl I can't wait to see her face again
