Re: anonymous poll: how much is your monthly mortgage

Ours is like $1800 or so a month- but we always give $2000 and put the extra towards principle.
Looking at the numbers doing this will help us have it paid off in almost half the time!!!

Re: anonymous poll: how much is your monthly mortgage

Wow i haven't purchased a home but we were told with insurance, taxes and our regular mortgage $1,500 max i what we would be allowed to have as our payment since they factor what we can afford per month. So we are looking in areas that a home is about 225k and under (foreclosures) in western suffolk.

Re: anonymous poll: how much is your monthly mortgage

if our offer is accepted on a foreclosure

then about $1500 a month for mortgage and taxes

the house needs about $50K plus in work to be livable (flooded basement)

combined we gross over $150K- but that's pre-tax- we are both self employed...

Its just shy of under 150k. I work in sales (and comission), DH is NYPD. We do have savings too and manage to actually get things done to our house too...like right now, a new driveway.

Sacrifices, SURE!

I knew that going into a home. I dont shop like crazy, budget things. etc.

If I lose my job ....our savings would help but not for long. I also have a 2nd p/t job that comes in every now and then and helps.
I am very secure in my job and know I wont loose it. Thankfully. DH too.

ETA: I wanted to add, I wouldnt change any part of it at all. I love my house, our neighborhood..love that my dd has her own room, a huge yard to be in.
All worth it to me.Chat Icon

ETA- salary range is over the bracket but not by a lot. I don't think if we earned less combined, we could do this PLUS make the changes we have made to the house but that's just us.

I do love our location though. Right outside huntington village.

Same here on almost all accounts excpet we bought in Merrick. My DH is also in NYPD.

I dont feel we sacrifice much either. Just make smarter choices that we should make even if we were making $200k+.

Re: anonymous poll: how much is your monthly mortgage

Income we are over the range, but our mort, taxes, ins is currently around 2900/month. We are refinancing currently and our new total will be around 2400/month - big savings!

We originally put down 20% on our house plus closing costs.
