Another BFing mom questions-Bfing and solids.
At what point does a BFing baby need less BM during the day?
I am starting DD on veggies next week as per her GI. Fruits at 6 months. She gets rice cereal now and I am considering oatmeal next.
I know this is not anytime soon, but I am curious as to when I can leave her for longer periods (like 3-4 hours) without BFing her. Also, at what age did you retire the pump?
I am just thinking ahead. We are trying to give her sippy cups because she refuses the bottle, but we are having a miserable time with those too.
I don't know if this question makes any sense whatsoever, but I am just wondering. If I wind up back to work before a year, I want to make sure I know what she would need as per BM while I am gone for the day. I probably would be only away from her max 5-6 hours and closer to 8 months. I would obviously pump.
We are aiming for BFing for at least a year, and I am hoping to be an extended BFing mom. I want to plan ahead.
TIA!

Oatmeal, fenugreek. There is a supplement you can get at whole foods called "More milk plus" Porn star boobs over here from that.. .not like they weren't ginormous to begin with.
You may just not be a good pumper though. I never produced much pumping, it was horrible.

I should have asked you when I saw you today Maria!!!
I went to Whole Foods right after we left Target. I got the milkmaid tea. Yucky. But if it works, okay!

It is said that a baby's primary nutritional needs should be met by BM (or formula) until their first birthday.

Re: Another BFing mom questions-Bfing and solids.
how often is si BFing now?
at that age, loey was going every 3.5 hours.
once he started STTN, he started to BF every 4 hours.
so then it became basically 5 times/day.
6:30 am 10:30 am 2:30 pm 6:30 pm and one more before bed 8:00 pm
now actually... sometimes it will end up being 5 hours because of his 2 hour awesome naps!
6:30 am - BF 7:30 - solids 9:30 - 11:30 am - nap 11:30 - BF 12:30 - solids 2:30 - 4:30 pm - nap 4:30 - BF 5:30 - solids 7:00 - BF - he eats more at night and then STTN 8:00 - BF

re: pumping and work
I never had a big stash when I went back to work... and it was FINE!
I had maybe 20 oz. when I went back to work and I just ended up adding an extra pumping session (1 more time than he was eating) and that helped me get a little freezer stash.
I actually have SO much milk now and I don't even know when we're going to use it!

She goes a good 3 hours without eating. I usually force her at this point. She loves the rice cereal and we are starting veggies this week.
Hopefully when she starts sleeping and napping it will be easier.

That is reassuring Hayley. I am going to call you or text you later. I know this is not even something I have to worry about for at least another 2 months or so!
What I am worried about is if I wind up doing what I told you about, if I am in court, it might be hard to pump. I figured I could get a manual pump to keep in my bag and if I have to run to the bathroom so be it. The nice thing is I will make my schedule so I am never more than 5 hours away from her.

Re: Another BFing mom questions-Bfing and solids.
at 4 months - i was ebf without food - my son would eat every four hours
at 6 months started food - he went every 4 hours
at about 9 months - he can be fine with nursing - morning, lunch, dinner
i work - had him 95% bm till 10 months -- now i am done pumping - he just nurses morning and night - but i can still nurse in the middle of the day - i could see going longer than a year morning and night
