I feel like a terrible mom (bfing related)
I am trying to wean off my DD , I have been bfing exclusively for almost 7 months now, I am slowly cutting down , I have so much milk and my DD loves it, she is so attached to it, doesn't like the bottle that much. She has been really cranky past week or so and I can't help thinking, that this has something to do with it,even though I know she is teething. I feel so bad, but I have to wean her off, b/c I have to see the doc in few weeks and they have to put me on some meds, that they can't give me if I am still bfing. I don't know what to do I am actually considering not seeing the doc for another few months and continuing to bf , I feel like I am such a horrible mom for doing this to my baby

you are not a terrible mom you BF your DD for 7 months, which is great.....and look at it this way, you need to be healthy for your little one, and if that means you have to take new medication and not BF, then thats okay too!

Re: I feel like a terrible mom (bfing related)
please don't feel like that at all.
You put in 7 months of hardwork!
I have a boy who is going to be hard to wean, I have taken baby steps.
I like Dr. Sears BFing book...it was very helpful.
mainly, keep her busy and off your lap if possible. If she needs to be held, stand and face her out.
I have no bottle advice, mine thought they were toys.

Re: I feel like a terrible mom (bfing related)
1st off you are an AWESOME mom for bfing 7 months already! it can be such hard work (esp. in the beginning!)
maybe you can try a sippy cup, she may like that better. ds rejected the bottle and we now bf 3X a day and i give him 1 1/2 sippy cups of formula too. it took him a while to adjust but he's ok with it now. also i think it may be easier to wean earlier than later and you have to take care of yourself.
also maybe you can increase her solids (if she eats them) and give her some snacks in between meals so she isn't as hungry for it.

yes she eats solids and really likes it,too, almost time to start 2nd foods, its just that, she is such a quiet and calm baby , and this is really aggravating her, I was told it's normal when you are trying to wean them off and she'll get better, I guess it takes time, I am going to try a sippy cup and see, I think she is also getting used to a bottle, I have noticed that today she drank from it without fussing as much.
