Another Car Post (Sorry)
DH and I will be in the market for a new car this summer. His Mustang is going to need duct tape soon
THis is the first car we are buying together. We both drive ALOT (I drive for work, he has a long commute). I wanted to buy a certified pre owned car, but a nicer car (BMW, etc) because we are in it so much.
DH wants to buy a new car, but something like an Accord, Camry, etc.
I think its a waste to buy a new car, because we each do about 18,000 miles a year.
what do you guys think? also to note, we keep cars until they die (or need duct tape)

If you guys keep your cars until they die, then I would suggest a new car.

Re: Another Car Post (Sorry)
I would still buy a pre-owned- most finacial advisors and books I read say the same thing
that's my plan for when my lease it up in 17 months (can you tell I am excited to get rid of it)
but I would not buy a pre-owned german car- they get $$$$$$ to repair
I am buying a pre-owned lexus- I drive way to much with taking the bus to work

thats why I want a used car - like a two year old car with 20K miles, or something off a lease. We drive so much that a new car isnt really new to us after a year

Re: Another Car Post (Sorry)
most of the high end cars come with high end maintenance expenses.
If you drive a car a lot I would recommend a reliable car that has a great maintenance record and awards.
The Camry or the Accord have the least amount of repairs over the long haul. German cars, not so much. Also they retain their value.
If you go with a high end car, just keep in mind that your maintenance expenses will be higher than a mid level car.
Get a loaded mid range car and that should fit the bill.

i agree... the higher end cars have $$$$ repairs. DHs parents had a used BMW that cost them so much money! i would look at a pre-owned, loaded midrange car instead- like a loaded camry or accord. they will be just as comfortable to drive as a BMW, but they have better maintenance records.

honda or hyundai (however its spelt) are know to be good cars if you keep until they die. The are known to last longer.

Re: Another Car Post (Sorry)
If you keep cars till they die stick with Japanese -
Toyota
Subaru
Honda
Those are the choices I would pick from New or a few years old....and Certified.
Subarus are known for going high miles 200k plus with little or no problems at all. I have an 05 Legacy and it is a great car, with all wheel drive too. My friend had a subaru back in the day with over 200k miles and the car ran like it did when it was new.
