another food starting question
I've read all the resent post about 4/5 month old with starting rice and schedules, but I'm still abit confused.
DD is 5 months. We started giving her rice cereal last week once a day. I give it to her at night because I want to be the one who introduces her to foods, not my MIL. MIL takes care of her while I'm at work.
So this weekend I was going to introduce her to oatmeal. My thoughts were, now I'll let my MIL give her the rice cereal at her 9am bottle and I'll giver her the oatmeal at her 6:30pm feeding.
Where do I go from here. Every week introduce her to a new veggie/fruit? If so how much do you give them? Do you start to cut back on formula? How many times a day? I'm really confused. I would really appreciate some suggestion. TIA
ps here is her current schedule
6:00am 6oz 9am ish 6oz 12pm ish 5-6oz / 1 to 1 1/2oz water 3pm ish, same as noon 6:30pm ish 1tbl cereal w/ 3tbl of formula and her 6oz bottle

Re: another food starting question
I wouldn't cut back on formula unless you notice that DC is starting to not finish the bottle. Solids are just for practice and formula/BM is the main source of nutrition for the first year.
I give a new food for 4 days before I introduce another new food. I started solids at 6 months. After a week, I moved to 2 meals per day. I'm EBFing so I nurse first and give food 30-60 minutes later, but you can give food first. I stopped giving rice cereal completely b/c it was so binding. Oatmeal has been much better on DS's stomach. I gave 1 tbsp of cereal with either BM or water. When I started adding foods, I usually gave 1-2 oz of fruit with the cereal in the morning and 2 oz of food in the evening. Now, at 8 months, DS eats 4-5 oz of food per meal. I moved up to 3 meals per day at 7.5 months.

ITA, i would do oatmeal for like 4-5 days, but since she showed no reaction to rice you do do one rice in AM and one oatmeal in PM.
Then after 5 days move on to barley, do that for 4 -5 days and then you could add a fruit or veggie to the mix, 1 at a time for 4-5 days.
