Another Gardening Question
Question for all of you, where did you all purchase your rocks/stones/pebbles/etc?
Are they eco-friendly? We can't put down grass because we tested it and the sun never hits it. All that is there is dirt right now. Also, we live in a condo complex and are responsible for any gardening inside our patio. The pebbles would be only for a 15x2 area against the fence. We can't mow it or anything. Thanks

Re: Another Gardening Question
We just got 16 bags of 3/8" blue stone from County Line Mason Supplies - they're on Depot Rd in Huntington Station.
Bags are ~60lbs each and we needed it to fill a 12' circle. We underestimated and need to go back for another 4-6 bags.

Re: Another Gardening Question
I don't recall off the top of my head - I can look at the bill tonight. I didn't think it was too expensive though.
We saw some bags at Home Depot but they didn't have what we wanted (both in size & stone type)...it wouldn't hurt to go there - they were definitely cheaper.

Re: Another Gardening Question
Check the "For Free" board at Craig's List! I just saw a listing last week for river rocks, with a picture. They looked very nice, and best of all - they're FREE!
Just keep in mind that rocks keep the dirt underneath very warm, so if you do plan on putting any plants in there, they have to withstand a lot of heat.
You could put a nice fountain or some kind of stone sculpture in there too, that might look nice.

Re: Another Gardening Question
They make grass seed just for shaded areas, it requires no sun to grow. So if you really want grass you can look into that.

yea, but its such a tiny area that we couldn't really mow it. I think rocks are the easiest for us.
I'll def. check out craigslist. Thanks!
