Another Laptop Question
My DH bought me a new laptop for Christmas. The one thing I have noticed is that the battery drains very quickly on this. Do you have an suggestions on how to increase the length of the battery? It's running Vista if you need to know that.

Re: Another Laptop Question
3-4 hours is probably about what you can expect from a laptop battery

Re: Another Laptop Question
Are you maybe over charging it. I was always told to charge it full then run it until it drains. Do this like 3 times to "condition" the battery. If you over charge the battery, like kjeep it plugged in most of the time, then that can kill the battery

Re: Another Laptop Question
How long is "very quick"? It may just be that the newer laptop doesn't run as long on your battery. You may need to get a bigger battery.
I'm not familiar with Vista, but in XP, there are several Power settings in the Control Panel. You can turn off the network card, dim the display, shut down the hard drive if you aren't using it, turn off BlueTooth if you have it, etc.

Re: Another Laptop Question
The battery seems to last less than 2 hours. So keeping it plugged in when I am using it at home is bad?

Re: Another Laptop Question
Battery sizes are all different...Typically you will find 3 sizes of batteries.
Depending on the processor, hardward of the laptop, it can vary...
To conserve, always plug it in when avaiable. When on battery, you may want to consider turning down brightness, bluetooth, wireless (if not using it)
In Vista, you want to check out mobility center and configure your laptop to respond to different things if the laptop is idle, turn off the screen, standby mode, etc...
