Another oil ? - contract vs COD, pros and cons of each

New to oil

Not sure whether to get a contract or not. What are the pros and cons to each?

Should the age of the burner have a factor here?

We've always done contract, it just gave us peace of mind knowing that we would never run out. You have to budget the amt of gallons correctly and if they go over with the budget thety will credit you, so it's best to know what your real usage is before you sign up, bc if you underestimate, you'll be hit with a bill at the end of the year.

I have done both. We do COD now cause its cheaper but you have to stay on top of it so you don't run out.

With the contract we paid more per gallon but they came every month in the winter and periodically during the summer. We did not have to do any estimate like the PP said. We paid for what we go regardless of the over year usage. With a contract yo pay more per gallon.

That is what I have. We have a contract with Petro and we are on automatic delivery, they leave an invoice in the mailbox when they come and we send them a check.

how often do they come? What determines when they come? Your usage or do they just come to top you off at some set time period (6 weeks, etc)?

They will usually come about every 4-6 weeks in the begining to get an idea of how much oil you go through. they also told me they go by the weather..if it is unusually cold they move the deliveries up.
