Another question. Ie: insurance nyc doe
Hey ladies, forgive me for asking all these questions. It's been 4 years since my last ivf/ fet cycles so I'm a little "new" to this stuff again. A little back story with me, both DH and I are nyc doe teachers. I am under his insurance (GHI). Used up three cycles of meds (one fresh and two frozen), so I think I'm done with med coverage. I came up with the bright idea of dropping myself from DHs insurance and going on my own GHI making myself a primary. Would that entitle me for 3 more rounds of fresh/ frozen/ and meds?? Sorry to sound so confusing! I'm so frustrated!!!

I'm not 100% sure as insurance polices have changed over the years, however, I've done some research and from what I understand I would say that it would NOT entitle you as it's lifetime for you both as a couple regardless of who's insured, etc. However, you can switch insurances completely through the DOE and utilize your new coverage from scratch.

UnfourtunTely it goes by social security. You wouldn't be able to get prescription coverage but if you switch insurance plans during open market. However--- a cycle includes a fresh and a frozen so you should have something left medically just not prescription wise.

Re: Another question. Ie: insurance nyc doe
so if I'm understanding correctly, I am no longer covered by any insurance plan (whether I switch or not) because its by my social security? So although I still have 2 fresh and one frozen left over my med coverage is up? Say for my first cycle I used menopur but not for my 2 frozen.... would I still get coverage on that since I only used it once?! THIS INFERTILITY WORLD SUCKS!!! AND i hate insurance companies!

Regardless of Ivf cycle coverage you get 3 lifetime fills of medication. That's why most RE offices will order max allowed. I got ten boxes of Gonal as my "first" fill which covered 4 iui's and I have left over. If I try for a second baby, I'd be using my second Gonal fill, bc Id need new meds. I used all my coverafe up on the trigger shot and progrsterone in oil - so I pay oop for those.

this is horrible. I looked at my box of meds that i had from my last cycle and all medications are expired. The last time i did iff was in 2010... can I get donations for meds? Is there a way to go around this? This is so frustrating!! sorry for venting
