another social worker question
Its been a while since I've been in school and all the interns I supervised in the past were either general practice, admin or community organizing. Is it normal to have your process recording be 8 -10 pages if youre casework/individual/clinical practice? I see the merit in it but I honestly don't know if I have the time tosupervise this student. And I'm wondering if all my previous students were slackers!

another social worker question
That sounds pretty long to me, but was she recording the session verbatim or giving a summary ?

Re: another social worker question
Shes done both but the summary ones are longer. She is quite verbose.

Re: another social worker question
Granted I haven't received a process recording yet , however some of the other supervisors brought this up in class last week and apparently, some schools want this. They were talking about a new format or something.........
I am wondering too if the student was just sucked into way too much during the first session. The professor also showed us one like this where that was the situation with the student.
I guess as time goes on you can get them to tweek it a bit........

Re: another social worker question
I was a clinical student. I looked at a few of my old process recordings just now - they were about 4 pages in length. If it was a very detailed session OR I had a particularly strong reaction they may have been a bit longer but 8 pages per process recording seems almost unmanageable!

Re: another social worker question
did i mention they were single spaced?!
hunter students dont currently have any guidelines. se was actually anxious that there was no prescribed format. i told her to try a few to see which works for her, which she is doing now but she's managed to cut her fourth process recording dwn to six SS pages

Re: another social worker question
Yes, that sounds normal even for a casework type position. The schools put a lot of emphasis on process recordings, which always drove me insane because I never found them to be THAT helpful as a student or a supervisor.
