Another worry wort question...Advice?
Gianna is about 4 weeks old, I am BF'ing, now, I am worried sick today.
I have had no poo diapers (usually have 2 by now), and 3 wets. She really hasn't eaten very much today I don't think. She has been snacking at the boob all day. She ate at 6am, 9am, 11am, 12pm and 1pm, only for 3 minutes each time.
Is she getting enough do you think? I cannot help but panic that I am starving her today and she is contently starving in her sleep.
I feel so psycho today!
Help! What should I do???

That sounds totally normal, even BF babies can go for a day or two without having a poo. Don't worry!! As long as you are having wets, you know she is getting enough!!!

Re: Another worry wort question...Advice?
It's totally normal to fret these first weeks... as for baby poo, well, breastmilk is so, so, so highly efficient that most of it is absorbed, so it's not all that unusual for breastfed babies to poo less than formula fed babies. I remember a time when Alex didn't have any poopy diapers for almost 4 days! They say a BF baby can go as long as 1 week without a poopy diaper and all is fine... if she seems content and doesn't seem to be crying out in pain then I doubt she's starved or experiencing constipation...

This happened to my son too at around 5 wks. I spoke to his doc and he said that it's totally normal. I am bf and formula, he said that it is very common in breast fed babies. All we had to do was wait and when it happened which was in about 4 days, it was all over the place...he needed a bath lol

Humm I dont know...but I do know that if a baby is hungry, they arent going to sleep - they're going to let you know they're hungry. So if she's sleeping I'm guessing she is OK and she will eat when she's ready

Re: Another worry wort question...Advice?
Thank you so much you guys made me feel so much better. She did wind up pooping twice today, I guess she doesn't feel like spending too much time at the boob today.
i called the ped, said if she doesn't poop in the next couple days to bring her in to be weighed, so we will see if she keeps eating like this.
Sometimes i wish i wasn't such a worry wort, but I guess thats part of being a mommy!

Re: Another worry wort question...Advice?
My baby is 5 weeks old and eats just pumped breast milk. Yesterday and today I have noticed that she seems to be eating less than usual and having less poopy diapers too. I remember the ped saying that eventually she will go down to 1 dirty diaper per day. So, I didn't worry too much about it and it always happens. Now she makes 1-2 dirty diapers per day. As far as the appetite, I think they have days when they are more hungry or less hungry than usual, just like we do. As long as they are making wet diapers (at least 1 per day too) then they are fine. I agree that if they are hungry, they won't just sleep through it.
