Answering Machine Question W/poll
Which do you have??
We have the default now but I am thinking of doing a personal one bc we keep getting WRONG calls & they leave messages!!!

We have a personal message and people still leave the wrong messages! I just got one today letting someone else know they have a dr. appt....You gotta wonder if people even listen to the message anymore!!

Our recording is actually a blooper, but we thought it was too funny to re-do.
I usually always leave the outgoing message... so as per usual, I was leaving the message and as I was saying "You've reached Aaron and Kim..." the dog starts barking and FH starts cracking up in the background and then I just hang up... we left it like that... people get so thrown off but other's leave messages where they are just laughing thru the message!

Ours is the same but is my DH's voice because I hate recording them. Bad enough I had to do my voicemail at work, on cell and home voicemail.

I just get the sense that if someone hasn't changed the default message, then it's an old number they don't use anymore, or maybe that they don't speak English well and would rather have a computerized voice do it for them.
I'm a teacher and I hate when I call a student's home and get a default answering machine message. I'm not sure whether to leave a message or not - if it's the wrong house, I don't want to give out personal info about a kid's name and where he goest to school.

We had a default message, but I just changed it . Thanks for reminding me I was getting sick of hearing the monotone voice when I call DH in the morning.

Unless you know the parent's voices, how would you know you have the correct number anyway? 
I use the default message. I speak english and it's a current number

Mine is something like that---DH's voice. We don't say our name our number, o we we still get wrong messages, but when it was the generic one, I didn't want someone who wold know our voices to think she had the wrong #.
I almost hung up on the my mom's machine, b/c I forgot she got a new machine with a robot-woman voice.
