Antibiotic question.
I have a bad sinus infection. I really dont need to take time off of work to visit my doctor & pay a $20 co-pay to have my doc tell me something I already know. Can I call my doctors office & have her call in a perscription for an antibiotic or do i really need to set up an appointment?

You need to see your doctor to be properly diagnosed and prescribed antibiotics....

Re: Antibiotic question.
Depends on the doctor.
My doctor won't even do refills over the phone for known issues (allergy meds, asthma meds, blood pressure meds) he forces an exam for every refill.
Because of that I've switched to over the counter allergy and asthma meds.

Re: Antibiotic question.
Call your doc's office and leave a message for the dr to call you back and ask. Some doctors will call in without seeing you but usually they will want you to come in. A couple of months ago my dr called in a script for me without having to see me.
Do you have a hx of sinus infections and has your dr treated you for this in the past? Maybe they will be more likely to call it in if they've treated you for this frequently or recently.

Re: Antibiotic question.
If this is an initial diagnosis and he does presccribe something for you. Find a new doc cause he is not good. I know it's "easier" to go your route but it's not the smarter choice.

Re: Antibiotic question.
only b/c if for some reason you DON"T need antibiotics, I would go to the doctor.
it is very bad to take them when you don't need them, for many many reasons.
I know the doc and the copay sucks, but it's better to be safe and right...than sorry. I get chronic sinus infections, and I take Sudafed. it's a virus, and antibiotics only work on bacteria. HTH.
feel better sweets.
