Antibiotics are killing my stomach
I'm on 1500mg of Biaxin/day for an upper respiratory infection. These pills are turning my life into a nightmare. I have a horrific taste in my mouth 24/7 (one of the side effects), I have zero appetite and this horrible pain in my stomach coupled with the trots (sorry  ) for about 2 hours after I take the pill.
At what point do I stop taking them? I have another 6 days left to take. (10-day course)

If you're finding it to be that unbearable you can call your dr to see if they can prescribe you something else.

Have you tried probiotics. It should help with the "trots"

I just went thru this last week. I was on Biaxin also . It is the only med that took away my sinus infection. It was awful! To get the bad taste out of my mouth I sucked on root beer barrels- CVS brand , jolly ranchers and butterscotch sucking candy, I drank a lot of water to get the meds out of my system- that worked the best, I ate yougurt or took acidipholis pills . Be warned I was done w/ the medication and a few days later I had a terrible issue w/ my stomach- it went away, another terrible side effect- I had cramps and the runs. Sorry if TMI. feel better!

I would suggest you ask your Dr. about your symptoms. I feel your pain!!!! I'm currently on an antibiotic, and have been for recurrent UTI, for a few yrs.!!!
( Urology tests negative, I'm very careful about cross contamination, etc.) I call it, "BN" aka bathroom nonsense!!! But I've cut down on this issue by taking Phillips Pro-biotic capsules, but not the fiber ones. I pray you feel better soon!!! Mary

Definitely take a probiotic.they do wonders for stomach issues.

I would also suggest a probiotic acidophilus; most people take them in conjunction w/antiobiotics because they can be harsh on the stomach and deplete your digestive tract of the necessary good bacteria. Nature's Bounty makes a great one.

Probiotics are great, and I would also try not to take them on an empty stomach.
Biaxin is one of the worst ones for upset stomach

My mom was on Biaxin and had awful stomach problems... i am not sure, but I think it helped her to take it with a big meal? I know that medication can be really bad on the stomach. Feel better.

I took biaxin for an ear infection and had horrible side effects. Dr. rx'd augmentin instead.
