Anxiety
My DH passed away suddenly in Dec. I think I am just coming around to the reality of our new life. I have been having what I think are anxiety attacks for the past few days. Does anyone have any suggestions other than counseling? Im not against counseling. Im actually looking into into it for my son, but time and resources are limited and his well being has to come first.

Hi Fran, I am so sorry for your loss. Anxiety attacks are not surprising considering you are adjusting to life without your husband.
Counseling is key for resolving counseling as anxiety attacks are often the body's way of communicating emotions and feelings that are right under the surface. They will always find a way out if we try to stuff them down or ignore them.
If counseling is not an option right now, I suggest you try meditation. You can google free programs on youtube and start with 5 or 10 minute videos. Search for meditation for anxiety. The goal is to re-regulate your body and your breathing, which is the opposite state of anxiety.
Also, have you considered a bereavement group? many are free and a good outlet for emotion also.
Good luck.

Re: Anxiety
Sorry for your loss...
I lost my husband suddenly last Easter. The anxiety is still there. Some days are really bad but I just try to focus on other things. I have a special needs 5 year old so I have a lot to deal with on a daily basis. I start a parent/child therapy group next week. It is a free program... I am not sure what will be going on there yet... You have to take things day by day. I do have anxiety meds for when I really need them.

Re: Anxiety
I'm so sorry for you and NewLeaf. Prayers for you both for strength.
This may be a silly suggestion but i'll throw it out there, who knows if it may really help. My gf turned me on to Rescue Remedy, it's like a sucking candy over the counter. I saw it in a few health food stores and i think Rite aide has it. It helps at times, maybe it's just psychological placebo effect but whatever. I keep it in my purse now.
