Any Advice For A Babies FIRST Airplaine Trip?
Chloe is 20 MOS. We are flying to Fla. this weekened and this will be her FIRST trip on an airplane. We did get her a seat. Any advice how to make a child this age comfy and relaxed? I am so afraid of her wanting to crawl all over
Someone mentioned having her suck on a bottle (she isnt a pacifier baby) when going up and landing to prevent her ears from hurting.
Any all ALL advice is appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Any Advice For A Babies FIRST Airplaine Trip?
DD was a little older for her first flight, 26 months. But we gave her a pop to suck on when we took off. It was early (6:30 am) but she was really out of sorts. I think it helped. I think a bottle is a good idea too.
My best advice is don't take them out of there seat. DD was in the car seat on the plane, and on the way down we took her out for a few mintues to let her stretch her legs. It was torture getting her back in.
So on the flight home, we just kept her in and let her watch TV, color, eat some snacks.
Good luck - I'm sure she will do better then you expect.

Hummm...we weren't going to bring her car seat, we thought she'd do better just sitting on a regular seat. Now you got me wondering

If you bought her a seat, I would definitely bring the car seat! It will be much more comfortable for her to sit it rather than the seat. Also, if she regularly falls asleep in it when it is in the car, she has a better chance of falling asleep in it in the car.
Bring tylenol or motrin with you. Don't give it to her though unless you see she is in pain at all from the pressure (I don't believe in medicating kids unless necessary).
Lots of snacks and favorite toys. (DS2 ate an entire bag of baby carrots on the way home from California, along with a few bags of fruit snacks, granola bars and a few other things too!) A light blanket (it can get cold on planes) Over the head head-phones so she can watch the TV on the plane or moves (those kind that go in the ears never work for the little ones) Water bottles or other drinks *you can bring drinks for her as long as you separate them when you go through security LOTS of baby wipes!

Re: Any Advice For A Babies FIRST Airplaine Trip?
We've flown twice so far with DS at 6 months and recently at 17 months. He did great both times. It was very smart to buy her her own seat!! DS likes to explore everything and surprisingly he was very content just sitting in his seat between us or taking turns on our laps. I brought lots of snacks, bottled water/juice and sippy cups. I bought milk at the airport. I pretty much just packed my regular baby bag and just brought extra diapers and wipes since you never know if you will get delayed etc. Besides the regular necessities we brought lolly pops/ring pops for him to suck on for departure and landings, a coloring book and crayons and our portable dvd player. He got the most use out of the crayons and coloring book and slept a lot of the time both ways. Have a great time! It really is a breeze and you will be happy you bought that extra seat!

Definitely a portable DVD player and some new toys still in their packaging. Open up something when she gets antsy. I took play-doh for the first time at that age and let my DD play with it on the tray. It kept her so entertained......
