Those with LAID BACK babies-ADVICE
My son is so laid back, we can take him anywhere, he loves EVERYONE, never cries, etc...ok heres my concern...
I see some mothers and the baby cries unless she is holding him/her...i feel like my baby doesnt care who is holding him...i kinda want him to want me tyo hold him, hes just so laid back...i mean he loves when I hold him, but he also loves grandma, and daddy...this is a weird post but i kinda want him to cry when someone else holds him...am i nuts...haha

DS has been going through a "I want mommy only" stage and it is driving me nuts. We went to a party last week and some of my friends wanted to hold him to give me a break for a little while so I could enjoy myself. DS was not having it. I had to hold him almost the entire time so he would not cry and make a scene. Not so much fun.

Micehlle...your nuts!!! Mya has started playing strange with pretty much everyone now except DH and myself...while i do feel loved...I know that when I leave her shes screaming her head off and that is hard! I really wish she was fine with other ppl...I know its a stage and it will end though!

i know , i dont want him to cry but i want him to know im his mommy, and being at work makes it worse...thanks...i mean im aware that this is an irrational thought...who says " I want a crying baby"? haha thanks...

All of mine have been that way..I get asked all the time "what do you do?"..I honestly have no idea..
But it makes me feel good that I have raised such outgoing, social, children..I know that they love me..

don't be sad...my son was the same way...there will come a time where he'll go through the "i prefer mommy phase". I remember feeling just like you did. I felt he prefered everyone else equal to me which made me sad. But now (he is 10 months) he still goes to people but if I walk in the room he puts his arms to me. Or if I am holding him and someone put their arms out to him he clings to me. He really does prefer you, trust me!!!

I agree. DS is the same way, he will go to anyone who smiles at him or says HI. He even tries to climb out of his carseat at stores if someone catches his eye.
But I love that he is so social. Trust me I have a niece who was the opposite, there were maybe 5 people who could hold her without her screaming and this went on until she was 18 months old. It got very taxing for everyone who was in her " circle of friends" especially her parents.
I will also say that although DS doesnt cry for me, he totally does prefer me. When I pick him up at my ILs he gets all squirmy until I pick him up and then he is constantly cuddling with me. If I hand him over to someone he keeps his eyes on me for a few minute like he is saying "hey mom dont leave me"

Michelle - I totally know what you mean.... Kristina will go to anyone, smiles at everyone.... is just such a happy baby it kills me - sometimes I feel like OMG can't it just be me that makes u happy?
Last night I went to Target. Dad calls me and says can you come home - she's not happy....
When I walked through the door.... she saw me and I took her, and she just snuggled me.... I was sooooo  even tho I was upset that she was upset...

Ditto! My son could have cut his own umbilical cord himself! LOL he was always such an easy baby, but let me tell you that he's a PITA now! So enjoy this time! lol

My little guy is juuussttt starting to care if its me holding him or not, and thats only once in a while. He is 8 months, and just a mellow fellow. I watch all the kids at day care want their mommas or daddy's at drop off. MY KID is just as happy as can be, LOL. Hope it lasts actually....

you are not nutty, but I promise you he knows exactly who you are.
if he's being held by everyone else, he knows you are the primary feeder, diaper changer, bather. He just sounds secure, so great job to you!
My kid will go to ANYONE who walks in the door. He is so tired of me, anyone is better at this point.
The maintence man came in the other morning to replace AC filter and josh ran up to him like he was an uncle or something.

Aw, I could have written this myself.
I thank God that his demeanor is as laid back as it is, but I do wonder if he thinks I'm "special". I know that it's nuts, but I know how you feel.
I think he knows mommy, and loves me like no other, but you just need reassurance of that. Crazy, I know, but like I said, I know how you feel.
