Any Brooklyn girls?
What hospital did you deliver at? My doctor is assoc. with Methodist. I used to hear good things about it but the last 2 people I spoke to didn't have the nicest things to say.

Re: Any Brooklyn girls?
I'm a brooklyn girl! I had a similar dilemma. I live in Park Slope, and go to a Dr. in Bay Ridge. I love my Dr. but he is affiliated with a hospital in SI. I thought that I should use a dr. affiliated with Methodist, because its so close to me, but I also heard some negative things. I heard great things about NYU, and thought about trying to find a dr. affiliated with NYU, but then decided to just stick with my dr. whom I love for now. I'm having the NT scan at the hospital in SI, and I'll try to see how far it is and take a tour of the hospital on that same day. I have a friend who is pg with twins and due in July, and she is using Methodist - she loves her dr, and is happy with her decision. I think you will find both good and bad reviews about all hospitals, so I think its important to love your doctors and take a tour yourself and see. Good luck! Keep me posted.

Re: Any Brooklyn girls?
Oh, one more thing -- I broke my ankle 3 years ago, and spent 5 days in Methodist. My doctors were amazing, and the surgery was a success.
The nurses were a different story .... some were wonderful, but there were a couple who were so mean to me - one actually yelled at me for crying (I was crying because I was in a lot of pain because they never gave me my pain killers when they were supposed to AND I was sitting in my own urine because they never came to remove the bedpan). Then when guests would come, she would act like she was the nicest person in the world, and my family thought I was crazy for complaining about her.
Again, that can happen anywhere - just wanted to share my experience. I love my orthopedic surgeon, and was very happy with my surgery results. If SI is too far to drive, I still may use Methodist.

Re: Any Brooklyn girls?
i delivered at methodist and absolutely loved the experience. the labor/delivery rooms are amazing and my labor nurse was great! the mother/baby rooms are less amazing, but still nice. the first day i was on the mother/baby floor was weird b/c they were swamped and understaffed, but the next day was fine. everyone was very nice. the last day there (the day i left) was even better. everyone was really chatty and pleasant. i really did like it there and so did my family. no complaints here!

That is great to hear, and congratulations!!!!!! Thank you for sharing. Did you have a private mother/baby room? Also, is it true that visitiors must leave at 10:00PM? Thanks!
