Re: Any cricket sightings so far?
I saw a BIG one outside my front door looking to jump in. I hate them!!!!!
My DH seems to always let them in..I usually walk into my kitchen and there is one waiting for me..
I'm actually looking forward for the cold weather.
ETA...a dehumidifier helps eliminates them??

Re: Any cricket sightings so far?
We use a cricket and spider sticky trap that we got at a hardware store. I think I've picked them up at both Ace and True Value. Home Depot did not carry them. I think they have a scent that attracts the crickets because they seem to gravitate to the traps. And crickets are stupid critters. We have one that now has 10 dead crickets - it's starting to get so full you wonder if there is room for another cricket. But they still keep coming - I guess they can't figure out that this thing is full of DEAD crickets and they might want to stay away.

Where do you lay them down? All around the house or just in the basement.
I can't believe they sell specific traps for crickets.

Re: Any cricket sightings so far?
I've never seen a trap just for crickets - we use the glue traps for mice.
I was told (don't know how true it is) that crickets are cannibals and that if one gets stuck and another cricket knows it's in distress, it will try to come along for a meal.
Gross. But effective.
We got another one tonight, first one in weeks. We also got one of those really horrible centipede looking things that scare the living hell out of me.

Ahh I saw the mice glue traps at Kmart today. I think they were the DCon brand or something like that. I was contemplating getting them, but wasn't sure if they were the same thing. I'll get them tomorrow! The tray looks big though, can you trim them do you know? I think there is one stuck under my stove

Re: Any cricket sightings so far?
I get the mice glue traps from Walmart. They are about .85 for a pack of 4. At first I placed them all around the basment not sure where they are coming from. Then when I saw the traps that where full I changed them and placed them back in that area again. They like dark damp areas. I bought a spray also from home depot that really works. I had alot of them when I moved in and now I am only finding a few a week in my basment.

I wouldn't recommend trying to cut them. The glue is a real PITA to get off anything - whether it be your hands, linoleum or carpet.
I had them under the stove too but I put the trap outside the stove, close to the wall where they like to lurk. They don't climb on top of the trap if it's under the stove - I guess there's not enough clearance and they go around it.
