Any ideas re: cost of re-doing bathroom?
We saw a house yesterday that we liked and are considering putting in an offer. I want to get an idea of what some of the renovations would cost.
The homeowner updated the floors and sinks in the bathrooms, but didn't do work to the showers. One shower has teal tiles and a teal tub. I definitely want to replace the tub and get different tiles. The shower in the other bathroom (no tub) needs to be re-tiled and I'd probably want to replace the shower (the shower floor looked pretty dirty and gross).
Has anyone just replaced the showers in the bathroom? Does anyone have any idea how much that would cost?

Any contractor is going to need a LOT more information to quote this to you. The type of tile you use, the type of flooring for the shower, the size of the showers, etc makes a difference.
Here is a slight breakdown of things to consider:
3.50 per sq foot to remove old tile 3.50 per sq foot to install new tile Cost of tile can range from $1 - $10 per sq foot depending on the type of material
New tub starts at $400 for basic, no frills
New shower doors $500 for basic sliding doors
You are looking at thousands of dollars to do this work. It probably could be done for under $10,000 depending on what materials you use and how big are the bathrooms.

if you're handy, though, you could save a lot if you install the tiling yourself... doing tile is pretty easy........
the main problem is finding someone who is willing to do the stuff you don't want to do.... (installing new shower base or plumbing)
