Any NYC Teachers, Now Stay At Home Mom's Know This Answer? RE: Childcare Leave
If you take a childcare leave from the city (whether it be one year or all 4 years) are you ALOWED to work full time outside of the city hwhile on leave? If not, would they ever "really" no? I am THINKING of OPTIONS if I have another child and one option that I thought would be GREAT is it I got a full-time teaching job or an Asst Director job at a daycare where I can bring my kids to work with me for perhaps free or at a very reduced rate and I'd still bring home more then I was making weekly if I continued in the city and paid upward of $600 for daycare for two kids. Any advice, input?
Thank you:)

I don't work in the city, but I think it has something to do with your teaching license. You have to be "released" from the city to use it elsewhere. I could be wrong, but that's what I remember hearing. Other than that, nothing prevents you from working other jobs WHILE teaching, so why would it be any different when on leave?

When I worked for the city (not teaching) they had a similar clause, but it was not working in any other city facility. IDK, but my guess is that is probably what they meant, and that, they could check out pretty easy.

I would check with your union rep.--I am not an NYC teacher, but I teach HR classes, and it would seem like the purpose of holding the job is to allow you the time home with your DC--if you work F/T at another job (and since it will go on your income tax, they can feasibly find out), it defeats the purpose of holding the job to let you stay home. Check first, because the penalty could be to rescind your license.
