Any recent Winthrop delivery mommies?

Just looking to see how your experience was considering the new policy. I will be delivering there in Feb and want to try to put my fears to rest.

What new policy? I delivered in July. Nothing really changed from when I had Xavier now 23 months ago.

I delivered there 10 months ago. What's their new policy? I heard rumors about having the baby with you all day and night. Is that what you mean?

I had the twins at winthrop...
u dont HAVE to have the baby with you but they want to try to push that instead of the baby going back to the nursery at night. You can still opt to send the baby back if you need to at night.

I had DS there in June, and that didn't seem to be a policy. DS was in the NICU anyway, so I couldn't have him. But my roommate had her DS in the nursery and they brought him in for feedings.

Yes, they have a new policy where they encourage 'rooming in' - basically they want you to have the baby in the room with you all the time
However, all you have to do is ask them and they'll take the baby back to the nursery at any time.

I delivered at 7:00 pm, went up to the maternity ward around midnight - was in no shape to take care of a baby that night, so asked them to put him in the nursery. They took him for the night and returned him to me around 7:00 am.
When i needed to shower, they took him then as well. The 2nd night, they took him as well

So, they are trying to encourage you spending as much time with him as possible, but understand if its not feasible.
One thing to keep in mind though - if you have a roommate who is rooming in, that could affect your night's sleep as well. I chose to have a private room for that very reason -the woman they were going to put me with had the baby with her all night and i couldnt' deal with it since i'd been up for over 24 hours at that point.

everyone's story is different.
My best friend had a baby there 5 weeks ago and they did not take him at night at all...made her keep him all night. She had a c-section (this was her 4th child - 3rd section) and couldn't get up out of bed that first night so she literally had the baby sleeping on her chest.
I guess you literally have to beg b/c they would not take my friend's baby...told her that was the new policy.

I had my son there in July and this wasn't something that was an issue so i'm assuming it's a brand new policy? i kept DS with me 95% of the time...but i did have them take him for 2 hours so i could sleep.

my friend who had her baby approx 5 weeks ago - they told her the policy had just gone into effect days before - so it was put into place sometime in Sept.
