any rec's for aug beach vacation?
I want to rent a house or a B&B room for a week mid-Aug. I love Fire Island so wanted something similar in atmosphere - no need to fly and great relaxed vibe with gorgeous beach also how much do u think I will be spending? I dont want to spend more than $2K for accomodations
TIA

I think you'll have a difficult time finding something in that price range in August for close by like Montauk, Hamptons or Jersey Shore.
I know Fire Island 1 week rentals are in the $4,000-$7,000 range.
We are doing the Jersey Shore after Labor Day weekend from Tues-Sun and it is costing us $2k.
Peak season, the houses in the Jersey shore were $4,000-$6,000 as well for a week.
How far are you willing to travel?

Those prices are for a house for a family.
If it's just you and DH, you can just get a room in a nice hotel right on the beach in Montauk for btwn $250-$400/night depending on the hotel.
I don't know any B&B's but a room in B&B would probably be a good option too.

Re: any rec's for aug beach vacation?
We also live in lower Westchester and have a few beach spots we like that would fit into your budget. This is the second summer we're renting a house in Niantic. It's a sleepy beach town, but the house we rent is in a community called Black Point. The beach is walking distance from the house. They are small beach areas, no waves, no boardwalk, but very nice, quiet and clean. The town itself has some restaurants, ice cream shops and a really cool bookstore. The town is 20-25 minutes from the casinos and 20 minutes from Mystic. Other cute areas owe by you our probably visit or even stay is Saybrook. We also really like Westerly, RI. Another small beach town, by more activity with bars and beach bars. There's also more if a boardwalk with a water park. And then of course there's Newport. I love Newport and go once or twice a year. It's definitely the most expensive, but there's the most to do.
