any secret to keeping garbage cans from not blowing away?
I have a garage, but then wouldn't it stink if I leave them in there until garbage day? Or does everyone do this? I am willing to try it.
Is there any method to this, especially on these windy days?
I like to be a considerate neighbor.

We used to use wrap bungee cord around the can, loop it thru the handles then attach to a chain link fence.

Re: any secret to keeping garbage cans from not blowing away?
We have these privacy screens that we put up against the intersection of 2 fences - so its basically totally enclosed with just enough room to roll out one can at a time (2-3 feet maybe?)
If it's windy they may fall down but are all still contained back there. Plus then you dont need to look at the ugly cans.
ETA: If you look at that site, they have a whole section of privacy screens. Wood, metal, different plastic patterns. We just got that one due to cheapest price and it matches the fence for the most part.

I have very large square ones with the covers attached. they never blow away, not even when they are empty.

I leave my cans in the garage untill garbage day - you can't smell it in the can with the lid on...

Us too, we aren't allowed to leave them outside (only on garbage days).

We leave our cans in the garage and the smell has never been an issue. Granted, we produce only 1 - 1.5 bags of garbage a week.

I keep them in the garage until we take them out. We also have a raccoon issue and this helps as well.
No smell or anything. Once the garbage is out so is any smell.

do you think even with dirty diapers the garage will stay relatively fresh smelling? that's the only concern I have - poop diapers.

We have round ones and we bungee cord them to the side of our house.

I've put a few bricks inside, or leftover pavers never had a problem blowing away.
