Any shocking reactions from people about your pregnancy?
From my aunt: "Oh Audrina...NOW you will face reality!!"
From my obnoxious co-worker: "HA! Life is officially over!"
From one of my DH's friends: "Dont ask ME to babysit.. I'm no good with kids"
Have these people ever heard of the word "Congratulations"?

Re: Any shocking reactions from people about your pregnancy?
People had a baby pool going before we even got married, so when we told people we got a lot of " I knew it! I knew something was up with you two!" and a few " finally"
eta-haha I cant believe I forgot this!! I am 22, and when I told someone they asked me if I was going to keep the baby

One person said *gasp* "was this planned?!??!"
Yeah - it was, but even if it wasn't it's not like I'm 16 knocked up with my white trash boyfriend. I'm a married woman. Sheesh.

Are you kidding?
And what if it wasn't? Would that make a difference? Sheesh

we've only told family so far and they've been nothing but excited.
i can't wait to tell DH's friends - one couple has a kid already and he was giving us advice before we got PG, i can only imagine what's going to happen now

Before he even said congrats my boss says "are you still going to work after?" and then says "you know kids are going to ruin your life, right?"

NO one knew we were trying.
So we got a bunch of "it must have been an oops" comments

Re: Any shocking reactions from people about your pregnancy?
My favorite reaction to date was from my DH boss:
"It's about time you finally consummate the marriage..."
(note - we've been together ten years and chose to wait to have kids)

WHAT????
um, unless you're 14, that is TOTALLY unacceptable - especially coming from a nurse!!!

ITA and I would give the doctor a piece of my mind about the nurse's comment. Completely unacceptable!

Re: Any shocking reactions from people about your pregnancy?
I had one coworker say "well, I guess it's a good thing you like kids"
another asked about our maternity leave policy and when I told him we get 3 months paid, he said "so I'm paying for you to not work for 3 months? I assume your year end bonus will be adjusted accordingly. I said, "uh, no, actually, you can't be penalized for taking maternity leave, and he said "no offense, but that just seems really unfair to me".
I was shocked!

My Grandma said "Is it definitely John's(DH)??" I was like what? OF COURSE!
OMG that's the worst one.
There was actually a smaller amount of cynicism than when I got engaged. A few people have said how my life is going to "change". Er, duh- really? My MIL says things like- "Wait til you see- "
When I first told a friend of mine, she said "Are you guys happy?" That one pisssed me off.

We told one of our friends that I was pregnant when I was about 6 weeks. She said "How far along are you?" I said "Six week" She said "That's all?" after glancing at my stomach.

Re: Any shocking reactions from people about your pregnancy?
A friend asked me if my pregnancy was planned too. A) Not your freaking business - if it wasn't I'm not sure I would run around saying so B) Why does that matter? C) I'm 30-yrs old, you know I've always wanted children, I own a house, am financially stable and have been married for almost 2 yrs (at the time) - WHAT DO YOU THINK?!

I got a few "your life will never be the same again" comments from people and similar stuff like "I know you like going out, but don't expect to continue that after the baby is born."
The best one was a girl I used to work with and still associate with. I said "we're having a baby!" and of course I was happy about it. She said in sort of a panicky way "OMG, what are you going to do? Are you really ready for that? How will you pay for it? Who will watch it. Geez, good luck. What did Cliff say? Is he worried?" Idiot.

I would've gone for the jugular.
SOme of the other ones are too funny.
We got a few, "Wow, you guys didn't waste any time!"
Um, hello, we were married for over a year before I got pregant.
