Any tips for sleeping better?
My first trimester I was up all night peeing, second trimester I slept like a baby, now 3 weeks into my 3rd I barely sleep at all. This past week has been the worst. Like clockwork I wake up at 12, 2, then 4 or 5. The worst part is that when I get up at 4/5 I can't fall back to sleep. I've been lucky that I've been off from work these past few days so I fall back to sleep whenever but now tomorrow I go back to work and I'm worried that if I'm up from 4am I won't even be able to function. It's definitely good prep for when the baby comes but for now I'm a nanny for 3 kids and I need to be semi functional haha. Any suggestions?

Re: Any tips for sleeping better?
My first pregnancy I had insomnia. My second I slept well. I think it's just how your body is reacting. I don't think there's too much you can do. Are you uncomfortable? Try a body pillow. Tea before bed, warm milk, whatever helps. Are you watching tv before bed? That may be keeping you up.
But either way, this is nothing compared to the sleep deprivation you'll have once baby arrives!

Unisom is safe during pregnancy. I wouldn't take it every night but on occasion it's fine.
3rd trimester is the worst for sleep. I wake up every time I need to roll over because of the pain in my hips and pelvis. I literally have to sit up to roll over. I actually slept better after DD1 was born!

Re: Any tips for sleeping better?
I wish there was something to make us sleep better! Im almost 34w and haven't slept good since before 14w. At 14w my hips/thighs started hurting during the night and I would have to keep rolling over. As I keep getting bigger the pain is worse and worse. I have also been peeing about 3x per night. Around 27w came the heart burn during the night. 1 or 2 tums would help. But then around 31w acid reflux decided to show up. I cant even lay down sometimes, it just starts coming up. I end up propped up on the couch sometimes in the middle of the night because of it. Between all the commotion of me getting up and tossing and turning my husband is going to scream lol. My thighs/ butt are really hurting though now to the point where I might have to sleep propped on the couch from now til the end ugh.

Any tips for sleeping better?
Thanks everyone. I'm going to buy some sleepy time tea and try that tonight. I mostly wake up because I'm uncomfortable then when I'm up I just get up to pee and I guess that doesn't help the situation. I used a body pillow last night and it helped a little. I'll just have to try whatever I can for the next 10 weeks lol

Re: Any tips for sleeping better?
The one thing that has helped me a bit is to use the body pillow along with 2-3 regular pillows. I literally surround myself w pillows…..one for my belly to lay on and me to hug, one in between my legs, and two up along my back. Kind of like building a nest that I just plop into. It doesn't give me a full night's rest, but it does help with the aches and pains I feel in the morning.
That said, my DH works nights…..and on the 2 nights a week he's home with me - he really can't sleep w me. He prefers the couch at this point….and our bed is a king!
Hang in there…..this is when the countdown is oddly exciting……the days till I can sleep on my belly again!! Only 4-5 more nights for me!

Re: Any tips for sleeping better?
Part of the reason I can't sleep anymore (3rd trimester) is that I sweat like CRAZY. I wake up soaked after a couple of hours. So sorry to be the odd woman out, but I couldn't use a Snoogle or body pillow at all! I did with my first pregnancy though. Every pregnancy is different. Experiment with different things - a body pillow, a cooler room, lighter blankets, sleeping in a different position (I like to sleep half-sitting-up against the headboard with a ton of pillows propping me up), or maybe just one extra pillow between your knees. Also, it's been hard for me to sleep lately because my mind is racing, so it's helped me to use some Yoga relaxation / meditation techniques.
Good luck.
