any tips on how to get DC to spit out toothpaste?

She does not mind having her teeth brushed, however she just won't spit out the toothpaste (flouride free). She can spit, cause she will, but I know she's swallowing the stuff first and then spitting whatever saliva she can force out She even says it's delicious

We still don't have a trick-DD is 2.75 and still won't spit. We still use fluoride free because of this.

My kids learned when a dentist went to their school and showed them how to brush and spit. I just put a cup up on the sink that they like to fill up and then take a drink and spit out. It's a game for them.

DH taught DS how to rinse and spit so I can ask him...I know he made it a game in the bathtub without the toothpaste first.

I used to brush his teeth and then brush with water to clean it up a bit.

I would LOVE any tips on this - DD doesn't know how to take water into her mouth without swallowing. I put the tiniest amount of toothpaste possible on her brush -- I literally just run the brush over the top of the tube without squeezing so she has the taste of it without actually putting any on the tooth brush because she'll swallow it every time.
